My three year special kitty started vomiting on Monday. What I
found was his dry food, grass, and nice size hairball. Thought
the issue was vomiting from the grass to get the hairball out
of his stomach. Surprised that this kitty doesn't have a major
hairball issue, because he's always grooming and grooming
with his buddy. So I waited to see what would happen before
making a decision to call the vet. He wasn't throwing up right
after eating, but four hours after eating. Waited until Tuesday
when he threw up for the fourth time. Brought him to the vet
to determine what was going on. Did a physical examine and
a x-ray. X-ray showed no issues with the organs or hairball
blockage. Plan of action from the vet was a 80cc of Cerenia
for vomiting, 7 tablets of Famotidine 10mg (pepcid) and two
cans of wet cat food (digestive care i/d). A bit of a problem
with the wet can food, kitty doesn't like it and could have
gotten the dry which is his preference, but then again don't
know if he would even like the dry food. Called the vet
and he told me it was okay to feed with his regular dry
food that he enjoys. Good News: Tuxedo has not throwing
up since Tuesday after receiving the injection and a
half a tab of the 10mg twice daily. A bit of hassle giving
the tablet, but manage. Before checking with the vet,
I guess it's required to give all 7 pepcid tablets over the
next seven days. Forgot to mention this is a indoor kitty
that I take outside on a leash and will have to keep away
from eating the lawn grass which might not be healthy
even though there is no chemicals or fertilizer used on
the grass. Thank you for reading.
