I found a kitten today and am pretty sure she has kitten lice. I need to know more info. I have two other adult males and how to keep them from getting it too.
Get a bowl of hot water, and put some Dawn soap in it. Run a flea come over the kitten thoroughly, and after each time, brush off anything that comes off the kitten into the bowl. Be sure you cuddle with the kitty right after; hold it against your skin so that it gets some of your body heat. Plus it's a nice bonding moment. Getting the kitten to the vet is also important, and keep the kitten separated from any other animals -- preferably in a small room, like a bathroom. If the vet determines that the kitten is at least 8 weeks, there are some treatments available for them at this age. If not, my friend had a bad flea and lice problem in their house a few years ago. Their solution was bowls of water with citrus-scented soap, placed under flashlights in every room. Apparently the light and scent draws the fleas and lice, and they drown in the liquid. Not sure about how well this works, but they claim it fixed their problem right up.
Thanks for all the helpful suggestions. I think shes is about six to eight weeks but its hard to tell. My ol man rescued it from a cornfield, she was farrel. Her siblings were eaten by the hawks nearby. Hes got a soft heart for babies lol. I gave her a olive oil bath, then dawn a few times. I used the flea comb several times on her. I think i got it all but mostly the fleas attack her because shes so little. We bombed our house twice with Alot and Still see them in our basement. Idk why. We tried the soap on a plate thing, it is very slow concept though. For the most i have her back to norm and she is very happy now.
If it were lice you would see very small white-ish beige eggs stuck firmly to her hair shafts. Those are going to hatch so if you do see them I would either get some advantage and apply it weekly, 3 times in a row, or cut that hair off.
If you don't see the eggs then likely just a bad case of fleas.
