Hi, I have always been a cat owner and have seen my share of kitty problems, but the other day I experienced a new one. I came home from work to see that my kitten's right eye looked cut open, so we rushed him to a vet. It turned out that something had irritated his eye, causing it to swell up and make the third eyelid cover his whole eye. Vet prescribed steroid ointment and pain drops. His eye looks much better, but my question is why is his pupil staying dilated? Any advice shedding some light on this would be appreciated, as I am new to eye issues. Thanks!

I know nothing about kitten eye issues either.  I do know that a pupil staying dilated can mean that there is very little sight in that eye.

I really hope that is not the case. That is my biggest worry at this point. I wondered if maybe the steroid ointment or the pain drops would cause the pupil to stay dilated, but we will see if anything has changed by the time I get off work.
