Cat paw fungus or dry skin?

Hi guys I just noticed today my 6mo kit has this stuff on his paw. Does it look like fungus or just dry skin? It's obviously not too bad but I'd like to treat it sooner rather than later!

Well...just from a picture it's really hard to say.  If you want, you might try putting some coconut oil or something benign like that on it and see if that fixes it.  If not, then it might be a fungus. 

It wiped off with water.... I feel so dumb. Not sure what it was but he's ok!

You have nothing to feel dumb about and please continue to ask new questions when you need to.  I am glad your baby is ok.  There is no such thing as a dumb or stupid question on this forum.  Everyone is here to share knowledge and learn from each other. Welcome to TCS.  

There are so many different things it could be. Perhaps he stepped in some dust or dirt.  I know my house is clean but it is certainly not and never will be white glove spotless.
