Hello i was wondering what the people's here's opinions on Canidae all life stages chicken formula it.

Ingredients

Chicken, Turkey, Chicken Broth, Chicken Liver, Ground Brown Rice, Lamb, Ocean Whitefish (source of Omega-3 Fatty Acids), Eggs, Guar Gum, Carrots, Sunflower Oil (source of Omega-6 Fatty Acids), Dicalcium Phosphate, Potassium Chloride, Choline Chloride, Carrageenan, Salt, Cranberries, Kelp, Rosemary Extract, Taurine, Lecithin, Yucca Schidigera Extract, Ascorbic Acid (source of Vitamin C), Vitamin E Supplement, Zinc Amino Acid Chelate, Glucosamine Hydrochloride, Iron Amino Acid Chelate, Chondroitin Sulfate, Manganese Amino Acid Chelate, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Vitamin A Supplement, Copper Amino Acid Chelate, d-Calcium Pantothenate, Niacin, Vitamin D3 Supplement, Riboflavin Supplement, Folic Acid, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Biotin, Thiamine Mononitrate, Sodium Selenite, Calcium Iodate.

It has goo ingredients but I noticed it has carrageenan in it which I heard is not good for cats.

Also are there any other ingredients to look out for when choosing cat food since I like to mix and match a lot

Thank you!

How does your kitty like it? I got it for my cats too but they aren't too crazy about it. It also does have the carrageenan in it that they say isn't good. I really like natures variety and my cats love it too - it doesn't have carrageenan in it but it is a bit pricey.
So what I do is actually rotate between 'natures variety' and 'Nutro' wet foods along with fancy feast classic (non seafood) flavors.
FF classic doesn't have carrageenan in it although it isn't the highest quality i try to do my best with the $ I have..

You would think that cat food companies would stop with the carrageenan ! It's crazy bc SO many of the foods out there have it in them!

I like what I have read about Canidae but that brand seems a bit overpriced given that its ingredients include rice, carrots, cranberries and kelp.  My gal has eaten other brands with similar content, but her favored brands are priced significantly less than Canidae; Rachael Ray, for example.  I believe that the Purina Pro Plan Grain Free contains a similar ratio of protein, but Pro Plan is significantly less costly than Canidae.  And no carrageenan in Pro Plan, if that's important to you.  Also, there's no fish in the Pro Plan Chicken or Turkey formulas.

Pro Plan Turkey & Chicken Entree:

Turkey, Chicken, Liver, Water Sufficient for Processing, Meat By-Products, Natural Flavor, Guar Gum, Potassium Chloride, Taurine, Salt, Choline Chloride, Vitamin E Supplement, Mono and Dicalcium Phosphate, Thiamine Mononitrate, Zinc Sulfate, Ferrous Sulfate, Niacin, Calcium Pantothenate, Vitamin A Supplement, Copper Sulfate, Menadione Sodium Bisulfite Complex (Source of Vitamin K Activity), Manganese Sulfate, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Riboflavin Supplement, Vitamin B-12 Supplement, Biotin, Folic Acid, Vitamin D-3 Supplement, Potassium Iodide.

Have you tried looking at the Pure Elements Formula? I think it's a bit more expensive though. But there's no carrageenan I believe, or at least last time I looked. I think the only downside is there being some menhadden fish meal in it. Maybe check it out more in depth though.

I currently feed Natrues Variety Instinct but I wish they'd ditch the tapioca.

I tried the Canidae just last week and my cats don't like it.  I was looking for an all life stages for my 8 month kitty and 8 year old adult.  Problem is the canidae is a pate and my cats just won't eat pate.  I'm still looking.  Just got PetGuard.  Problem is it doesn't describe the consistency on the can and they are Pate as well.  My cats ate the Merrick for a while, but they would like it one day and not the next.  Now I know how my mother felt when I was a picky eater as a kid.

Hi. I have an 11 year old rescue. After many episodes of vomiting and checking with my vet, she suggested Canidae Pure because he may have a poultry allergy (he likes the the Pure Stream with trout). I have been using it for a few months now, mixed with his Canidae dry food and he loves it (although I cannot stand the smell). My older female will not touch it though. It is expensive but I suppose it beats cleaning up vomit spots all over the house.
