My cat is very bad at being around strangers, she's frightened so easily. Even when we are home she barely even likes being held by us, So now that she's pregnant I am wondering if it is a good idea to take her to the vet. I'm worried how stressed she will get if I take her out and if it will cause any issues with her pregnancy. Am I worrying too much? Please help! I am really not sure how far along she is.

Can you post a picture of her?

How big is her tummy? Nipples pink up at day 21, and the tummy begins to show around week 5.

There's probably no reason to take her to the vet.

She does need unlimited wet food and kitten chow. Have you made a nest for her?

Do you remember when she got out? How old is she? Is this her first litter?

I don't have a current picture i'll get one tonight, but she is pretty big already. Her nipples are pink and noticeably bigger. I noticed when I got home yesterday she kept licking her genital area, I have made two nest areas for her. She was laying there for a few minutes and then came up to the bed to sleep with me. In regards to her getting out, she didn't. I have a male cat at home so unfortunately I am unsure of the exact date when she may have conceived. I will be getting my cat fixed soon. She is  2 years old and this would be her first litter. I definitely think she is past 5 weeks, we noticed the enlarged nipples and belly on July the 6th.

She's currently still eating hard food, should I change it?

Can you please advise on what Items I may need during her labor?

Thanks,

It sounds like she is at least 8 weeks along. Cat pregnancy ranges about 65-68 days, so she may have a week or so left.

Have you seen or felt kitten movement yet?

You'll want a digital kitchen scale that measures in grams to weigh the kittens with daily, a can of powdered PetAg kitten formula, a small, needleless syringe, towels, and some thread to tie off a cord if necessary.

You should add wet food to mom's diet in addition to the kitten chow.

We have many excellent articles that are helpful. Hete are a couple to get you started:
