My cat gave birth to three kittens last night. The only time she meowed or seemed in pain was right before she gave birth to the first one. After that she had each of them within 5-10 minutes of each other and she seemed to be doing very well. I peeked in on her and said hey to her and she gave me the sweetest meow like look at all my babies. I can tell she loves them all already.

Welcome to TCS! [emoji]128522[/emoji]

It sounds like an easy birth! [emoji]128077[/emoji]

Are all three kittens nursing well?

Feed mom as much wet food and kitten chow as she wants while nursing. Put her food, water, and litter in the room nearby so she does not have to leave her kittens for long.

Have you put down fresh bedding yet?

We'd love to see pictures when you get a chance!

They are all nursing well and I have put clean bedding down. Shes meowing a bit more now that everything is over with and I'm sitting with her and the kids which she seems to enjoy.

Sounds like all went well! Just so you know, mom can get pregnant again within a week of delivery and without going into heat. Can you keep her 100% inside and away from intact males until the kittens have been weaned?

I don't think she knew what she was doing at first because everytime I left her side she'd make her way over to me and meow until I was with her and her babies. She's currently sleeping in the box we had made for them. She's an inside cat as well. We had gotten our male fixed probably one day too late because for the longest time we thought she was getting fat!

My cat had kittens three days ago and we had them in a box and mom seemed to be doing well with all of them until one went missing. I searched the whole room and just can't find him. I don't hear him either. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Momma is with the others, and it seems all well?   Not going into a move with everyone?

Do keep searching - for alive or dead, so you are sure and have a clean consciece.  Because it happens they cat mommas do begin a move, but not fullfil it...

But a not unusual situation is, if a kitten is clearly worse of than the others, the cat momma either carries it away, or does eats it up.  Not by any cruelty but to be sure the other kittens are safe from predators...

How many kittens were there in the beginning?  did you monitor them?  Weighed every day, so you are sure everyone gained nicely?  Or at least, saw by eye and touch everyone was thriviing and well?

Have you located the missing kitten? Is mom in just one room without access to any others?

I have located him! He was alright. Mom is in one room with occasional breaks when they're sleeping.

Splendid!  So momma seems to take care of him still?   But having two different nests, so to speak??

Anyways, continue to monitor them, both the majority, and also, this minority of one.

Its not impossible momma thinks there is a problem.   As I said, its common cat momma abandon a sick kitten. But not always - sometimes she does the opposite and care for it extra.

Here she perhaps compromised:  took him away, but continues to care for him somewhere else...

Also, unless its very warm at your place, he may need some heating - heating pad, perhaps, under a part of his new little nest... I mean, be sure he has something comfortable to lay on.  Perhaps a stuffed animal as companion.

Trying to carry him back to the littermates? Yes this is an idea.  sometimes it works out.  sometimes momma carry him again away somewhere else...

Yes, if you were me, I would try and return the kitten to the nest and see how mom reacts.  It would be much better I would think for the survival of the  kitten to be with his litter mates instead of isolated by himself.  I would at least try this and see what she does.
