Hi there,

Wanted to see if anyone has had a similar experience or could give some insight. Over the past 2-3 months my 2 year old cat has developed "sores" on the back of his tongue. At times they look a little bloody. We took him to the vet and they said it looked like the sores were coming from an external cause but not to worry and to wait to see if they go away on their own after some antibiotics. His blood and urine tests came back fine and he his was normal self. Eating. drinking, playing etc.

With time as the sores remain I decided to recently get a second opinion at an emergency vet. They prescribed him new antibiotics which healed "20%" of the sore. The next step suggested by the vet is a biopsy just in case. I am very worried to put him under anesthesia, but I want to be sure we are taking all precautions.

Has anyone had a similar experience or have tips on what to expect post-biopsy? Any words of wisdom pertaining to any of this would help. This is all new to me and i'm very sad/nervous. :(

Thanks!

Shannon

It's really good to hear that you have taken your cat to the Vets before. It is probably time for the next step, the biopsy as they have not healed with antibiotics. I'm sure the Vet would not advise this unless it was necessary and your cat will not be in any harm.

Good luck, let us know what happens.
