There's a recent discussion about good commercial cat food choices in Australia: http://www.thecatsite.com/t/229827/help-with-australian-cat-food-choices

Raw is certainly an option
There's a forum here on TCS for all discussions on raw and home cooked diets: http://www.thecatsite.com/f/65/raw-amp-home-cooked-cat-food You can read through the articles at the top of the page for some info.

The most important thing when feeding raw or home cooked is that you must make it a complete balanced diet either by adding in supplements or organs and bones. I found an old TCS thread about BARF diets in Australia: http://www.thecatsite.com/t/252759/raw-feeding-or-barf-in-australia-need-some-food-advice There may be good info there.

These may also  be helpful:

Some cats don't like raw or cooked meat at first but eventually get used to eating it. Trying different meats helps. Chicken is popular with most cats. Slowly mixing small amounts of raw or cooked into canned cat food and adding "toppers" on top usually works to get cats to at least try the strange new food.

Hope you are aware of feline nutrition. . Feed canned food instead of dry kibble. dry food has less water content, carbohydaret load is high.

But the ebst is fresh food. If dry food it should not be refrigerated.
