I brought home an 8ish week home kitten today . I was told she was born mid May . So far she has not gone to the bathroom in her liter box or had any accidents , is this pretty normal for day 1 in a new home ? We have the liter box in the laundry room where my two toddlers cannot get to . For the most part, she only wants to hang out in the living room up on the cat tower . When's we she wakes up from naps I take her to her liter box , but so far nothing . I tried locking her in there for a little while with her bed and bowls think I t maybe she would go... Well she just meowed for the 20 minutes . Am I doing this wrong ?

It is normal for them to not eat/drink/potty the first day or two.

We always suggest getting a new cat set up in their own space, at least for the first few days, as they get used to all the new sights/smells/sounds of the new home. It can all be overwhelming.
Also, with such a young kitten, she will very likely have accidents if the litter box is not close by. Ideally, if she going to be out and about in the house, there needs to be a litter box in each room she has access to.

Personally, I don't like young kittens having full access to a house as there are just too many places for them to hide/get stuck. When acclimating young kittens to new parts of the house, I actually either crate them in a large dog crate (complete with litter box, bed, a few toys, food and water) or leash them so that I have control over where they can go (I'm currently using a ferret leash with a 7 week old that I am fostering.)

Has the kitten had any food or water yet?

She will need to use the litter box eventually. I would keep putting her in frequently. At 8 weeks, the litter pan needs to be nearby.

She will also want to sleep with you at night. You may want to put her food, water, and litter in your room at night so she has easy access.

Since you just brought her home today, she is likely frightened in her new environment. Do everything you can to comfort her and keep her close while she acclimates.
