I noticed he did eat a small amount of fancy feast today. The doctor told me to give him tiny portions to confirm he is eating.

Good to hear that he is eating. Hope the administration of drugs will help him get over it fast.
As for the tv? Is it because of the noise from the installation that caused him to react? Just guessing.

He had elevated enzymes but no pancreatitis. He had started acting weird when our new 50 inch tv came, I don't know if that had anything to do with it!
It could still be the pancreatitis even effecting him. If the enzymes are elevated, then who knows...I understand they the Vets say enzymes can be elevated without having pancreatitis, but to my mind, it just does not make sense..

The steroid should help..I do not think it is related to the new TV.... unless he got extremely upset during the installation of it. You said it caused him to react; how did he react?

I cannot comprehend that to cause him to get sick. My guy is very skittish also, but he never got that sick from noises, etc...just very jumpy.. perhaps a bit of not eating and hiding, but not enough to entirely give up food.

You have to wait a day to see if the meds help. If he is eating that is great!! even a tiny bit at a time.. also try adding a tiny, very tiny bit of water to his food. It will help if he is dehydrated.

Frequent small feedings is good.

If you can get him interested in Gerber, or Beech-nut baby food---make sure it is the first first...nothing with onions or garlic, that may help him get an interest.

I hope you do not have to resort to syringe feeding.. but that is a possibility if he continues to refuse to eat..

Classic Fancy Feast is good..anything smelly, even tuna water. Take a can of tuna, put it in a container, fill it with water; add the water to his food.

He ate a small amount of fancy feast and a few kibble. I did find some urine in his box. I am skipping X-ray and steroids today, since I have to work. They don't like me to leave in middle of day anyway. I won't cancel Monday for ultra sound until I see how it goes over the weekend.

Hopefully he has turned the corner. I knew he would not eat the vet food. You can always count on fancy feast. Yes, he is deadly afraid of the new TV. There has been a male feral outside hanging around, we had a tree cut down, he is afraid of big tv. A lot of stuff to make him jittery. (Note to self TNR that feral.) I wonder if Kitty Litter with Febreeze could make him sick). The female seems ok with it. This is a cat that NEVER threw up for 6 years. Say a prayer for him, I don't want to give steroids if possible.

It could have been a combination of everything which set him "off".

Sometimes you cannot figure out the direct cause, you just have to deal with the illness.

Yes, that feral cat needs to be TNR.  That is probably a huge factor in his nervousness.

The litter with Febreeze is something I would really question.. I do not think scented litter is good for a cat.

Febreeze is not supposed to be good for cats either.

Honestly, I would immediately, and completely get rid of that litter and go to unscented. I use Precious Cats. It clumps really well and is unscented. No stink at all.

Steroids are pretty important. Once you start using them, you cannot stop abruptly. It has to be a tapering off of it..

I would think twice about not giving him steroids today..

He ate all his breakfast this am, and he has eaten 1/3 of his dinner. So far so good. He won't come out of his room if TV on, it does have speakers and is loud.

That's good. At least he's eating.
Think he partly he got freaked out by a new item in the house that makes noises, especially loud thundering noise from the tv. Maybe what you can do is turn on the tv at a low volume and carry him to see the tv and speak calmly to him and say it's ok, it's just a tv. After doing that few times, then slowly bring up the volume till he gets use to it. This could just be part of it till he really overcome the tv.
My boy is the same, he gets freaked out by loud noises especially from the vacuum cleaner. Once it's on, he'll disappear and you have to go look for him after that. So I bought another vacuum cleaner that is much more quieter and not so intimating looking. After taking out if the box, without turning it on, I left it in the middle of the hall so that he can go sniff at it then after awhile, I switch the position to another part of the house several times for one or two days. And when I turn it on, he did not really run and hide but looked from a distance. Then I spoke calmly to him and said, 'it's alright, it's just a vacuum cleaner and I kept assuring him. So now, when I use it, he stood just a few feet away from me and followed the vacuum cleaner instead of running away to hide.
So I hope your cat will overcome the tv and come out of the room when the tv is on.
Yes, febreeze and all chemical sprays are no good. Ever since I got my boy, I stopped completely using all chemical sprays and cleaners.

Why would they make litter with Febreeze in the litter if dangerous, I don't get it!
It's to appeal to a Human's nose, not to a cat's nose
Humans don't want to smell litter box odors so companies put Febreeze and other perfumes in the litter and market the product as "odor control for X days" or something like that and many pet owners just buy it all up.

Because it is a marketing "thing" for humans... a ploy to get them to buy it....

Several years ago, there were many reports about Febreeze causing harm to pets; however there have also been some, I say some, research into it stating these reports are just co-incidences.

I err on the safe side.

My cat was diagnosed with pancreatitis and violently vomits if I feed her a non-prescription food. The vet said and we tried Trader Joe's tuna cat food, nope! So I have been crushing up the prescription wet food, scooping it up with a spoon and letting her lick it off of the spoon. I do this after I come home from work and right before bedtime. Someone also mentioned above baby food. My cat is eating Gerber turkey baby food. I try to not let it be a substitution for her prescription diet but sometimes that's all she will eat. Again, I have to encourage her to eat it and she licks it off of a spoon. Baby food might be worth trying.

Same as dry food, convenient for humans not good for cats! Ugh
Really? Why do vets tell us this stuff? I'm so frustrated with the situation. I just want my cat to be healthy again. It sounds like you are dealing with something similar. I have an appointment for a 2nd opinion today.

Manufacturers make lots of stuff that are not healthy for us or cats who are more sensitive by body mass alone.
Febreez was a chemical compound that was developed to attach to oder molecules and neutralize them . They added scents when they realized folks were not going to pay for no smell. 20 years on you can get it un -scented . Neither the chemicals that bind or the chemicals that float fake scents in the air are good for people. Did you know that most room freshener or air scents just coat the inside of your nose or scent receptors [emoji]128576[/emoji][emoji]128169[/emoji][emoji]128586[/emoji][emoji]127794[/emoji][emoji]127801[/emoji] .

Sorry to hear momenzie. I pray from a recovery for your furry girl. Frodo is back to his normal self, eating, drinking and pooping. The antibiotic and fluid and nausea injection seem to have done the trick. Hopefully it stays that way. I will be more diligent about brushing him (in case it was fur related). He had a fever and slightly elevated enzymes but his pancreas test was good. I also make sure the big tv is off when he comes out of bedroom, and I have a trap to TNR rogue feral. I cancelled his X-ray, steroid, and ultra sound! Thank you God!
