New cat owner

Hello,

My wife and I are new cat parents! We just adopted a 4 year old brown tabby 4 days ago. We named him Arthur because we treat him like a king! He is our first pet so there has been a lot of learning and coping. I found this site because he had some sudden nervous behavior and when I googled it TCS came up! Seems like a good site for me to learn and get advice from. Looking forward to learning lots and meeting people. Thanks!

Well...a few more details would help, but I"m fairly certain that the issue is that you just brought him into your home a few days ago.  Cats are slow to relax in new surroundings.  The reason for this is their extreme territorialism,  In time, as he begins to know your home and to leave his scent on things, he will learn his new "territory," and well relax.  Patience.  Just patience.

Congratulations on the new addition!  I'm a new member too but I've had cat companions all my life and just recently adopted a rescue.  It takes time for them to 'adjust'...I guess it can depend as each one is different in their own way.  All they really need is your love and respect.  In time they have you wrapped around their paws
