I often read about how fleas hop a ride on shoes, socks, and pants legs, then invade your house.   I wonder if there's some way of doing laundry which would make this mode of transport less appealing to fleas?

Maybe before drying in an electric or gas dryer, before I toss in one of those tissues (Bounce etc) I  could add a drop of something?  Maybe certain types of laundry detergent leave a foul-tasting-to-fleas residue?

Interesting question.  I haven't tried it myself, but I've read that using 20 Mule Team Borax in laundry helps get rid of pests like ants and fleas.  Not sure that would work as a preventive type of measure, though.
