Hello y'all, I just joined, we found a mama cat, very pregnant. The last few days she has been spotting blood, her appetite is still good, we don't really know how pregnant she is. She was meowing last night, and i thought sure she was in labor. Nipples are very prominent and rosy, and i can feel milk in the breasts. I am a nurse, but I am,concerned enough the spotting blood. I have palpated the kits and they are active, this is my first cat, so I would appreciate any advice. Thank you

Welcome to the Cat Site! There's lot of good help and support here. It sounds like your cat is close to delivery. When the mucus plug in the cervix comes out, there may be a few drops of blood.  A few spots of blood shouldn't be too unusual, but if it continues, or gets worse, you probably need to take her to a vet. If her stomach starts to ripple, she's in prelabor, and it won't be long. Make a nesting box for her to have the kittens in. She may go in and out of it several times. A low box will some towels in it should be fine. She may also want you to be close by, so indulge her and stay with her throughout the delivery.

A cat pregnancy is surprisingly similar to a human pregnancy; except for the whole eating the placenta deal and if she is actively pushing for 30 - 60 minutes get her to a vet ASAP.  So long as she is spotting and the amount is not increasing it is fine.

Here is a little light reading for you.

Wonderful, thank you for your reply. She seems calm still, a lot of genital licking, some pacing, but no other signs of labor really except for the spotting...just on kitty watch now...lol

Today is the day! First kit was stillborn, but kit#2 is active, mewling, and searching for a nipple!

Question, how long can it take for first baby to find a nipple? I'm worried, and don't know when to intervene, I don't want him to starve

Go ahead and put the kitten to a nipple. There's no harm in helping! [emoji]128522[/emoji]

It's been 5 hours since kit #2 was born, I'm kinda getting worried, she isn't in any apparent distress, and I can still feel solid masses in her abdomen, so my best guess is at least 2 more are due...is this normal?

Yes, it can be normal. If mom is not in distress, there is no need to worry. She will have them when her body is ready. This happens when a mom cat mates on different days of her heat cycle. If there are more kittens, she will probably have them in the next few days.
