I searched the site for any posts for senior kitty pictures, but couldn't find any recent ones, so I thought I'd start one!
This is 11 year old Zsa Zsa. I have had her since she was a tiny kitten. She is my great friend and companion, and I am looking forward to many more quality years together!

My first baby in my second baby's bed!

I love this cat!

SHe's a cutie.

Here's my current seniors. I could post my senior kitties that have crossed if you want.

Luvbug (Just turned 16 this month). His name fits.

Drooler (14 years and drools when happy).

Lil' Jag (turning 12 in August and the only girl at present).

Buster (also turning 12 this year). He's a handful at opening doors.

And the youngest senior who just barely qualifies as he turned 7 this year is Smudge.

I'm just in an emotional state right now thinking about how much Zsa Zsa and I have been through together. I read another post about someone adopting an 18 year old bonded pair that someone surrendered. How does someone abandon a companion of almost 2 decades? Zsa Zsa is my little buddy and we are so bonded, nothing could make me abandon her. I just don't understand. I like to see pictures of everyone else's life long companions, a cat's love is a certain kind of devotion that you can't find anywhere else. Your kitties are so beautiful!

Sometimes the owner dies before the cat does, and sometimes aging owners are moved into assisted living where they can't keep a cat. The thought of this kept me from getting a cat for several years, but my son promised to take mine in if something happened to me, so I got Mingo. He's two years old, so he may outlive me.

I never thought of that. I'm glad you have made arrangements for Mingo should that happen. I can't imagine how heartbreaking it must be to have to give up your feline friend that way!

That is so true in some cases. I used to volunteer at a no-kill (and still is) and have seen cats of all ages come in that the owner has either passed or has had to be moved into an assistant care facility. At least in most of the cases the family or the person left in their will that the cat/cats be given a second chance at love. They have often given enough money to help defer the costs of care as well.

Other cases the persons involved runs into either health or financial difficulties beyond their control and they feel that in the best case for the cats is for them to have a new family that can give them the care they need (even though they are all traumatized and heart broken).

Zsa Zsa looks great for her age.

I had adopted the 1st two of my cats from the local cat shelter, both were Seniors and both were also surrenders. I really don't know much beyond that nor did I ask. They are/were such wonderful sweethearts. Both have since passed at ages 18 and 19.5 years of age.

This is Sissy

I always felt like she was silently plotting my murder, while she was looking at me..
After bath

She was my ex fiance's cat. So, yeah, I spent a lot of time with her.. His parents got her when she was 8 weeks old and my ex fiance was 13 years old. There was an instant "imprint", as he called it. I do miss her sometimes.. She could be an excellent teacher for Grizzly
(I do not miss my ex though! LOL But I do respect him for calling her "the one true love of his life")

Awww, such gorgeous cats!  My four girls are all technically "mature", too, from 11-17.  I'd post pix, but can't due to unknown software problem.  Anyway, love your beautiful cats!

So hard to tell a cats real age without looking at things like their teeth. Wish we could stay looking so youthful.

Sometimes I look at Zsa Zsa and she just looks so old. Then I catch her playing with a hair tie and I see the little kitten she used to be. She's such a wonderful cat, I wonder how I got so lucky to have such a wonderful friend!

How gorgeous....and yes, no matter what else the "ex" was, you gotta appreciate that!!!
Yeah, I did appreciate that
I mean, there were reasons we used to be together and I would be a liar if I thought he was totally worthless, or something!

This is my Rainbow Bridge boy, Snuffy (he died at age 11) he'd be 17 now if he were still alive.

He had a large inoperable tumor on his nose. It started developing when he was around 10 and grew rapidly. We had it biopsied 4 times, the first 3 came back benign, and the last one malignant. :( he ran away shortly after, but he was so sick and needed so many medicines+ his insulin because he was diabetic. There's no way he could have survived. Plust there are many large preditors in our area like coyotes and cougars.

He was my first pet and I miss him dearly to this day [emoji]128557[/emoji]

Shadow, 14 years young
His brother Cali, aged 12 :rbheart: We sadly lost him to CHF a couple of years ago
Pushkin, the semi feral we care for. Age unknown, but we think she's in her 20s now. A lot of her size is a tumor, and loose skin from when she wasn't being fed and was stealing high fat horse feed in the winters to survive :( She's been seen by vets, and the concensus is there's probably something going on, but as she'd be impossible to treat it's best to leave her be so long as she's happy and has good quality of life ...and she's definitely enjoying life still :D
