Hello I just want to start off saying I have a 4yr old and hes never been sick :( . Well on june 27 poor guy got an infection. It was awful he was sneezing like crazy and ended up in the hospital with a fever of 41. The doctor gave him a chest xray and blood work. They said he didnt have an pneumonia his chest was clear but they did detect an infection in his blood work.  They gave me antibiotics Zeniquin 25mlgs once a day for 11 days so two days into the antibiotics his stool was soft and smelled like medicine :( poor guy and then I started giving him probiotics and he went back to kinda normal but still soft poop.  Well he finished the antibiotics on July 8 and three days later his poop is soft
.  So far its been 8 days and just yesterday for the first time he had normal poop but this morning he had again soft mushy kinda diarreha poop.  I also want to that hes eating, drinking water & playing.  He seems very well hydrated I feed him Wellness shredded chicken wet food well pretty much weruva and all the best food I can give him and i go between Arcana and Orgini.  I even tried just boiled organic chicken with a little white rice he didnt like it.  He loves his wet food though.  My question is its so far been 8-9 days does anyone know how long it can take for his poop to go back to normal?? by the way Ive never changed his diet and hes on fortiflora(which is a probiotic) and a little bit of pumpkin. I love my cat D'Artagnan sooooo much I will do anything for him
. Can something like this take a month?? I just dont know anymore.... Please someone help.

Zenequin is a very potent antibiotic, so it could take awhile to work its way out of his system.  We use ProviableDC for our kitties as a probiotic and it works well, but sometimes it just takes time.  As long as he doesn't have full-on diarrhea, you're okay.  I know it's frustrating, but give it a couple more weeks.  Also, call the vet and talk with them about what you've seen.  They might prescribe something a bit stronger to help.

Yes.  I've had to use Zenequin twice and we always give a probiotic while she's on it as well as for about a month after.  It's hard to wait, but like I mentioned earlier, as long as it's not diarrhea, you're doing okay.

I used a probiotic for J, the chronic cystitis cat I took home from the shelter after two vets had given up on curing her.  She had had Convenia three times in a row and couldn't have had any intestinal bacteria to speak of, so I gave her one from Petsmart, made by 21st Century, Pre & Probiotic Soft Chews.  Specifically for cats, it contains lactobacillus, bifidobacterium and enterococcus thermipholus fermentation products.  I also gave her Stoneyfield organic whole milk plain yogurt.  I kept her on that until the 66th day after the last dose of Convenia and it worked well.

Thank you so much. It's just hard to go through. I don't think it's diarrhea but more soft mushy poop. I'll call my vet and see if there's something stronger for a probiotic. It's now going on 11 days. I just want his tummy back to normal[emoji]128589[/emoji][emoji]127997[/emoji].

HI AGAIN JUST AN UPDATE SO TWO WEEKS AFTER THE ANTIBIOTICS HIS POOP WENT BACK TO NORMAL AND NOW JUST FOUR DAYS AGO WENT MUSHY AGAIN.  WELL THERES TWO PIECES NORMAL AND THEN MUSH.  DO YOU THINK AFTER ZENIQUIN IT MIGHT TAKE A COUPLE OF MONTHS TO ADJUST. NOW I DO HAVE TO SAY HERE IN TORONTO WE WERE GOING THROUGH A MAJOR HEATWAVE BUT I LEFT THE AIRCONDITIONING ON FOR HIM AT ALL TIME : (
