Has Sam /WellingtonCats been here today?

I haven't seen any posts from her. The flooding in New Zealand, including Wellington, is horrendous, so I'm wondering how she's doing. Houses are completely under water or being washed away. The authorities are evacuating people by helicopter. I hope she's okay.

There have been floods in NZ's northern island? I never knew... headlines are more worried here about the potential civil war going on in Haiti.

I hope Sam's okay.

She posted last night- I hadn't heard about the flooding, but know they live very near the beach.

I saw that this morning too. I asked about her in the Tuesday Daily thread but didn't get a response there either. I hope everything is OK!

He had also just made his own signature... his last post, according to his profile is testing her new signature and asking to reduce its file size in the Feedback section at 1:14 AM AST.

I hope you and your family are ok Sam! I just heard about the flooding on CNN.

I get the NZ news online - more likely that the phone lines are down as a lot of the phone lines have been damaged by the flooding - it is one of the worst storms since 1968. As I recall, she is on dialup and if the phone lines are down, then she may not be able to go online.

It is now just past 9am. Either she has no phone service right now or she is at school.

So do I. They're reporting at least 2 deaths and several people missing. Has your family been affected, Kellye?

My family lives in Christchurch which is in the South Island, far away from Picton where the flooding starts. But I have an uncle who lives north of Wellington and works on the boats, I will have to ask my dad how he is.

I can see a friend of mine from Wellington online - I will ask how everything is.

Okay, my friend says that it was pretty bad, one death is from a man lost at sea without a lifejacket. Wellington itself is getting better, but Picton and further up north are still pretty bad.

Well, I thought it was a he since Sam is a male name (at least in this neck of the woods ).

Anyone heard from Sam yet? I am starting to get worried. I hope it's just the phone lines being out that is keeping her from posting

I think its not just the phone lines - its also the power lines - my friend had a problem with her power, but as she lives near the city, it most likely got turned back on quickly.

I think she is okay.
