Do cats become picky over time?

My cats used to eat any wet food that I put in front of them. They used to get wet all the time and dry for snacking. For a while I couldn't afford the buy wet so it got to be an occasional thing. I've started buying canned again be said one of my cats is getting cubby, and one is a bit skinny. I fed the skinny cat by himself today because I suspect the other cat is getting his food. He ate some of the wet but got down from the counter, the dog was by the door so I though he go spooked, so I picked him up and put him in front of the bowl, he still only took a few nibbles. So I let the other cat in to finish the food and put down some dry. The bigger cat didn't even finish the wet. I got a whole case of this stuff because they were never picky before!

Cats most definitely can and do become picky over time. I have one cat who is picky, and another who is not at all. It does get frustrating, but I've now just got into the habit of buying quite a variety of different canned foods, and my fussy one will usually eat some fresh canned every day. There are brands that they simply don't like, and then again sometimes they'll like one food and not like it the week after.
I read that cats have the instinct to hunt for variety in their diets, so that could contribute to fussiness in our domestic moggies.

I'm going to go buy a few different brands and flavor a tonight, I've also cleaned up some messes on the floor (puke or hair balls I'm not sure I don't normally see either with the cats) so something probably isn't agreeing with them.

Marthas tried more or less every uk brand cat food going, At the moment shes taken to sheba so I'll see how that go,s . She is either picky or she has me wrapped around her paw , my guess is a bit of both. [emoji]128521[/emoji]
