Hi I am a new kids on the block, and I need some help.

My neighbor in my apt bldg, is a sweet 90 yr old lady, She got a cat from another neighbor in the bldg. He had passed.

Sometimes she loves the cat and other times, finds it difficult to care for it. The cat, Ava is about 13 (?) y/o and a long haired Tuxedo.

She weighs about 4 or 5 lbs. Tests were done and she is healthy, but soooo thin.

I have a 3 y/o very active (jealous) cat, Lucy Belle. My apt is just to small for 2 cats, and I am trying very hard to get a 2 bedroom, so I can introduce them properly.

Ave eats eggs, cottage cheese and chicken wet food and will eat dry food, but it has to be chicken. Plain ordinary chicken.

Ava watches over her owner and checks up on her all the time. But the owner cant even brush her or forgets...and we have a groomer come out.

Ava and LucyBelle's pictures below

I have tried to get her a foster parent, but I am so picky...

No one wants this sweet lady Ava...

I want to fatten her up...what to do? Please help.

Thanks for trying to help this sweet girl! How is her appetite? Is she thin from eating very little, or does she have a healthy appetite and is still thin? There are many people on here that are much more knowledgeable than I am that should be able to offer advice. The only thing I can suggest is chicken baby food as a treat may be a way to get a few extra calories in her. I've never known a cat that didn't like baby food. How long ago did Ava get the clean bill of health from the vet? Was the vet concerned about her weight? Good luck!

Original Fancy Feast is usually a good way to fatten them up.  However, I have found that consistently feeding them the same amount at each feeding will get them fattened up.  Did the vet check her for thyroid problems and diabetes?

If her problem is strictly low weight and not some other medical underlying problem, "Kitten Chow" is high  in calories, and cats of ALL ages seem to really LOVE that dry Kitten Chow!!
