My baby is urinating many times a ay, an the time re. flow urination varies anywhere from 6 seconds to 24 seconds.  Frequency varies greatly also.

He is receiving specialist care, has undergone two surgeries, with one kidney remove...on an on...yet...no one can tell me HOW LONG a cat will urinate for, on average, senior and male, on any given..'sitting'.

Also...I am doing everything possible re. renal disease, inc. ordering two bottles of Astro's oil... any suggestions re. best foods...homemade or vet certified, etc...My kitty is accustomed to the finer foods...and despises me for changing to Renal products. HE DOES NOT WANT TO EAT THEM! HELP!

So I'm guessing from what little your've written that your senior has been diagnosed with chronic kidney disease?  They've done blood tests and you have the figures for his BUN, Creatinine, etc.?

Have you seen this website?  http://www.felinecrf.org/index.htm

I've had three kidney cats in my lifetime, and the above website is my "go to" for anything kidney related.  For instance, regarding phos binders, they have an entire section devoted to them, and it's here:  http://www.felinecrf.org/phosphorus_binders.htm  They also have an entire section devoted to foods, and how much phosphorus is in it.  That's here:  http://www.felinecrf.org/canned_food_usa.htm.  Now I never used any phos binders so cannot share my experiences with you.

As far as urine flow times, gosh, it seems like with my last kidney cat, she usually wasn't in the box all that long at any one time, but she certainly produced a ton of urine in a day.  When she passed earlier this year, we could not believe how much urine was suddenly NOT in the boxes.  The difference was astounding.  It had been so long we just got used to it, I guess.

I'm sorry to hear about your baby!

My heart was rushed  to animal emergency in the 26th of June, where he underwent emergency surgery for septic peritonitis.  A kidney was removed, and the other appeared grossly normal. Arrhythmia, water in/on the lungs, aspiration of the lungs with syringes, one week in an oxygen chamber, cardiologists, specialists, x-rays, countless blood tests, ultrasounds,  feeding tubes, another surgery, statements by 'experts' at each point in the ordeal stating that I was wasting my, thus far, $17,000 on him, as he would not make it home, later... my precious, unique, priceless, HEART, warrior King is home! And not only that, everything was improving at a phenomenal rate.  Putting on heaps of weight, bloods improving exponentially....etc...After several follow-ups, told that he didn't need to return for more follow-ups...no need to place him on a kidney diet as his results were normal (in spite of my instance that perhaps I should...he is also 12...and...in deference to the aforementioned advice of said 'vets' and specialists that there was no need...in all their views...it would be a waste to do so if the kidney was normal...but how this coul be...in my view...din't make sense)..and three days after the "all clear"..all that changed....kidney is 'moderately' diseased...I think my vet is trying to be hopeful...I have requested a copy of all the latest results for levels etc....but at this stage...sighs...so...Yes, to your query...I have also stumbled across this site, which is phenomenal: http://www.felinecrf.org/phosphorus_binders.htm (thank you for the link...I shall research that next). He HATES the kidney diets..don't know how to convince him to eat..& he needs to regenerate all the weight and muscle lost in this period of hell and suffering for him..which..he was doing..at a rate that surprised all... but now...with the diet change..worried! Have also purchased two bottles of Astro's oil, and am awaiting the arrival of these. Does anyone know anything/have any experience with Astro's oil...or anything which I have written.  Feedback and guidance would be appreciated. :(

I'm sorry for the loss of your baby!

Thank YOU for your response.  I have provided a somewhat lengthy response, but included within it, a phenomenal link which I do not, apparently, have authority to do on this site/forum, and so my post is being checked by moderators.  Hopefully it will be cleared shortly. :(
