Hi everyone I have a 4 mon the old kitten she has had diarrhea well not really diarrhea but loose stool for weeks now I took her to the vet and they did a stool sample. It came back she had roundworms worms, she has had 2 doses of de wormer meds but still has loose stool. She is also taking metro 2 times a day for 10 days. But it doesn't seem to be helping. Should I change her food? She is eating nutro max cat the kitten kind. It's a dry food. Any suggestions? She is totally fine other than the loose stool, she eats, drinks, and plays like a maniac. I'm not sure what elies to do my vet d I sent seem to know either. I need a new vet but money is kinda tight right now. Please help!!

Not familiar with the meds but try some pumpkin natural not the stuff sweetened used for pie filling. Feed any good quality kitten moist food, might like Royal canin for kitten's. If you do feed dry kibbles right now add warm water let stand a few minutes until kibbles are moist, feed moist foods lots of liquids chicken broth from boiled chicken is great plus they love boiled chicken NO BONES

Switching brands will normally help nothing sudden gradual change only by mixing blending old with new over time or you will increase diarrhea when you change their food.

It could be the food, or it could be that the metro hasn't done it's job yet ( have you finished all 10 days of it), or it could be that the metro is actually causing the loose stool since that can be a side effect  (so it could have cured what was wrong, yet brought on the same symptom as a side effect, if that makes sense...did the loose stool change at all while on the Metro?)  OR, it could be something else entirely, like T-Foetus, which is a "bug" that isn't found with a normal fecal float. That stool sample has to be sent out to a special lab and takes longer and is (of course) more expensive.  But often when nothing else seems to be causing the issue, it's T-Foetus.

I would try changing food first thoughm although has she been on this food since you first brought her home, or did you change it, and can you recall if that's when the problem started?  If you try another dry food, be sure to switch her over slowly.  But no point in switching her to another dry if the ingredients are pretty much the same. I would try to stay away from wheat, corn and soy and see what happens.
