It's a hot hot day in my area.  I hope everyone experiencing this heat is staying safe and cool!!

When was the last time you took a sick or a personal day off of work?

I'm a stay-at-home mom; so there are no sick days for me!  But my husband took a sick day today.  His stomach was off this morning and his supervisor said they could do without him for the day instead of him having to be late.  He works outside a lot (even on the weekends) so he really could use a day to rest in the air conditioning.  Normally when he is home he is the one who gets the kids breakfast.  He's always been a morning person and I am not!
So this morning he walked in the kitchen behind me as I was setting my things down and with a cheeky grin said "I get a pass today right!?"
I looked at him and in my best boss voice said 'No one gets a pass in this house!!"
And yes I made the kids their breakfast.  And had him frame and hang a poster in DS's bedroom that we'd been meaning to do but just hadn't gotten around to.  I wonder if I can get him to run the vacuum?
(I'm kidding; he's very helpful!  He likes to be busy and he isn't feeling that poorly so this is more of a "personal" day off for him.  They just don't call them that at his company.)

I was on a stay-cation early July due to major dental surgery and recuperating.  We run days off as PTO in my office; Paid Time Off. Everyone has a certain amount of days to use through the year based on how long they are with the company.  I'm at 22 days and it doesn't matter how I take them; vacation, sick, personal, whatever.  As long as we don't go over.  And honestly if there was an emergency we're pretty lenient about it going above and beyond as long as it isn't  excessive.

Have I mentioned I love where I work?

I took off Friday, July 1. We use the same ban of hours that we accrue for sick, personal and vacation time and we can only accrue a certain amount of hours before we hit our cap and they stop accruing. So I like to keep my bank as high as possible without going over just in case something happens and I need it. I am taking off this Friday for a dr appt for DD and I put in for 8/19 so I can take her back to school.

For two weeks in June, I was doing physical therapy for sciatica, two hours a week. And I used sick time for the therapy.

If I can't get rid of this headache soon, I may be taking a sick day tomorrow (Tuesday). It's getting worse the longer I stay here today.

I can't remember the last time I called out-wait I think it was in May or April? I was sick with a sinus infection. have to use vacation time. We do get pto but we have to save it for weekends we get MOd=mandatory overtime. This company is not user friendly and doesn't care what your home life is like-they expect everyone here 7 days a week. Sadly we lost a lot of talent due to this rigid thinking. They spit them out after they chewed them up. So far I still have almost 3 weeks left. I really try hard to not call out. We will have to use another vaca day in august to get the cats shaved before vacation-its just easier to deal when they have short hair without trying to brush a stressed out kitty. So I probably could use a mental day but I did take a few days off on the weekend back in June. Does this count?

We can't roll over PTO=you loose it if you don't use it. Vaca is only 1 week carry over. So in December we have lots of people missing due to them burning up their time. I tried to talk them into doing it in August this year instead of December.

December of 2012, when I actually had to quit my job due to deteriorating health.

We also have the PTO, all time off is under that heading.  I took the last two weeks of June off.  Just spent a little time with the kids and grandkids.  I have only called in once since I started working from home.  I make my own hours and I haven't been sick enough or had an emergency that I couldn't work  around.  The one time I did call  in, my internet went out towards the end of the week and I couldn't get someone out to fix it until the following week.   That was when I had AT&T U-verse.  I actually didn't get it fixed I  dropped them and went back to Time Warner.  They were able to get me connected the day before AT&T could get here to fix theirs.

I last had a sick day in 2006. I called in to say I had the flu, but it was really a hangover.

I work free lance now. I arrange my own schedule, so I can just move things around if I or one of the cats needs to see a doctor. I can't afford to take any days off sick though, so I have to reschedule rather than cancel work.

I start a new job next week , the job is a 10 minute walk from my flat as opposed to a 90 minute commute to and from work which was what I was doing previously. Being a lot closer means that I can spend more time with Martha. So my answer to the question asked above, the last time I took a day of was today and the rest of the week which is just perfect as I get to spend lots of time with my special girl.
