my cat, doodles, 11 months old, gave birth to a litter of four kittens on thursday,14th. They all seem healthy and fine however doodles just keep meowing non stop from past two day. Its more like she wants to say something to me. I mean I do stay with her when she is feeding her kittens because she likes somebody patting her. She also keeps taking one particular kitten and keeping him away from the rest. Maybe she wants to move the litter and that is why i brought the whole litter to where she brought the single one. I dont know what to do. She seems pretty anxious. Should i let her change the litter's location once more? I have heard this saying that cats change the place for the kittens 7 times!! somebody give me some advice. Also the kitten is pretty healthy so I dont know why she is taking that particular one. Somebody help, would be grateful :)

Hi @sunshiness  and congrats on the new additions to your family!

Well, you may already know that mommy cats, do move their litter several times untill they feel safe for the babies.. They also do that multiple times to leave the scent of the newborns in multiple spots, so to throw off the "imaginary predator"..

Now, the "imaginary predator" could be you, because you're visiting the "nest" too many times.. Or if you have any small children who love to pet and play with the newborns..? I don't know.. Also, maybe the spot where the litter is for now, might be noisy, or cold? For some reason she doesn't feel safe..

Maybe if you put a larger box or something (I don't know where she lays the babies right now) in the spot that she chose to take one of the babies and make it more appealing for her to move the rest of the litter there..? That's one idea I can think of..

But try to keep that spot away from noise, be sure it's not "cold" for the little ones.. and try to keep away from the litter for a while.. She seems like a new momma.. Just read she's 11 months old, so.. I don't think she's had any other litter before this, so she might be more anxious than expected.. Thus, her need to feel safe about her babies is bigger.

Make sure she doesn't have any visual of other cats - stray cats that migh visit your yard, or whatever - so I would put the box away from windows. See where she choses to settle down and help her during the process.. There's nothing you need to worry about for the time being

That is good progress
 I'm happy for you!

We are photo-addicts around here.. so.. when you get a chance to take some photos of the mommy and babies, that'd be great for our daily kitten dose! LOL

Btw can somebody tell ne whether its possible for a kitten to only have one eye. One of the kittens opened his ONE eye on 7th day while his othe4 eye has yet not open and today is the 10th day. Is it possible for him to only have one eye? I dont really care i will keep him if he has one eye but i actually have alreafy found him a home and i think they will have a problem. The rest 3 kittens have all opened their eyes. Also this kitten with one eye also is the healthiest. Would be thankful if someone could be fill me in. :) :)

My cat gave birth to 4 kittens on 14th july.2 of them have open their eyes. 1 still has his eyes closed. (I am fine with all this) but one of the kitten opened its one eye 3 days ago and now its completely open but its other eye has not opened yet. Can it be that it wont open ever or i will have to wait a few days more. Also i think he came out first from his mom idk and he is the healthiest so yes any help or advise?
Does the eye look swollen or stuck shut at all?  You can post a photo if you'd like.

I just saw in another thread that you said your mama cat is going outside.  Mom can get pregnant again within a week of delivering and without going into heat.  She can also bring parasites and disease back to her babies, or not come back at all.  It is very, very important that mom stay 100% inside and away from intact males until the kittens have weaned.  Another pregnancy at this time would be brutal to her body.

Yes i am making 100% sure she stays away from male cats. Basically, the stray cats are 2 female cats and two kittens so its no big problem. As much for diseases, i will now only let her out for a short time. If i dobt she conatantly meows at me. Thankyou for the advice i am grateful.

And no, the kitten's eye looks the same since day 1. Closed. I will check tomorrow. Hopefully, it will open tomorrow or else i will send a picture.

Thanks for the concern :)

Also by leaving out, i mean my garden and it is part of the house (there are walls not fencea) so she has practically never left the house.

If the eye does not open, do not pry it. You can hold a warm, damp wash cloth on it to see if it will help in case it is stuck shut from infection.

Most kitten's eyes open by the 14th day. If this one does not open, and the damp cloth does not help, I suggest you see a vet ASAP.

Also, do you feed and care for the strays? Have you thought of spaying them?

Did she get pregnant in the garden this time though?  I'm glad you are taking precautions.  And I agree that spaying and neutering the strays would be great!  We can help you to find a low cost clinic if you tell us which city you live near.

I live in a small city of pakistan where the idea of neutering isnt common so i cant access that.

And yes i basically care for all the stray cats that come in our house. We feed them at 5pm everyday and the kittens get extra milk.*i literally have the 7th generation of one of my late stray cat* And yes doodles got pregnant in the garden brcayse she helplessly fell in love with one of the stray male cat. Now he is ready to take her life. Literally. He just wants to kill her. Maybe its because she is the new breed among them. I dont know. Well the good thing is the male cat hasnt showed up since past three weeks so thats good. also during pregnancy, she never left in fear. Now that he is gone she likes to go out for a while but i still never leave her alone outside becayse who knows when that crazy cat decides to show up.

Butt thanks to both of you. If the other eye doesnt open until thursday, i will contact my vet. Thaaaankkks a loott

Is there a nearby city where spaying and neutering is performed by vets?

It is sad to allow all of these cats and their offspring to continue to reproduce.

In what city in Pakistan do you live?
