I have 2 kittens who recently turned 3 months old.  One is fairly chubby (she's calmer than her sister, and doesn't run AS much).  She even has a little fatty pouch that's starting to arrive!  Is this normal?  She's not "bloated" and she doesn't have worms.  Her sister is lean, and much more active.  Is this a phase?  They're free fed, but I'm willing to put them on a schedule if I need to!

12 week old kittens don't get overweight. If she is getting a noticeable pooch, I would be suspicious of either an ingunial hernia or fluid in the abdomen.

At 3 months, she should have been to the vet recently for a vaccine booster. Did you mention this to the vet? Or is this something that has come on fairly suddenly?

Everything said above is correct.
But I will add that maybe it's not so much a pooch but she could be filling out, she could just be a bigger, stockier cat than her sister.
I had two brothers from the same litter once, our gray boy was very lean and muscular and our orange boy was the equivalent to Garfield.
At this age, filling out wouldn't be an abnormal thing.

Thanks. She will go back to the Vet soon. We are in the process of moving this week.

When I rub her tummy it feels like a pooch. It's not huge, but her sister doesn't have one. It feels like fat. I will ask the Vet in about a week.

Also, this is not gradual. She's been a rolly polly since we bought her. She is also bigger than her sister.

I apologize for the multiple posts in a row, but I can't figure out how to edit my post (if that's possible).  I meant to say her weight gain HAS been gradual, and she has been a rolly polly since we bought her.   She's not noticeably chubby, but she's bigger than her sister, and she definitely has a small pooch in between her back legs.  It's not HUGE though.  Is this definitely NOT normal?

Once we're settled in, we will be going back to the Vet for boosters.. Thanks!

If the pooch is kind of flappy, that might also be normal too. I don't know at what age it typically develops, but some cats have a little belly flap, others don't. It's thought to be a defence mechanism to protect their organs if they get bunny-kicked in the belly by another cat in a fight.

Pia has one, and it swings merrily too and fro when she trots.
She isn't overweight, although she is quite lazy, so she *feels* squishier than more energetic and muscular cats I've had.

Do always feel free to ask the vet when you bring them in, that's what they're there for. But, it might also be normal.

I do not have advice on the health issue but I can explain how to edit posts. There is a symbol that looks like a pencil you click on the pencil to edit posts.

For some reason, I can't see a pencil icon. I am on other forums and know how to edit posts, so I am not sure why I'm unable to here. EDIT: I see it now! I wonder if I needed a certain amount of posts before it appeared...

I checked her sister, and she has a smaller pooch. They're both a bit flappy! I have a scheduled appointment for them next week. From what I have read, it seems normal, but we will see. [emoji]128522[/emoji]
