Obviously, its been too long since I had a kitten.
Adopted Grayce "Popcorn" from a high kill shelter about 3 weeks ago. She is 13 weeks old. Had her second set of shots on the day I pickup her up.
shelter had her on dry science diet kitten and wet friskies pate- I continued that.
She was active, playful, good appetite, a sneeze or two but nothing to warrant a trip to the vet. As her dry science diet started to run out, I started to transition her to Purina pro focus kitten (I got this at Petco). I'm sure I did not transition that slowly enough. Within a couple of days, I'm seeing cat puke. She was vomiting up the partially digested dry food ! I thought - well I knew better... poor girl. So Monday, I ran up to the vet and got another bag of science diet. However, she continued to vomit (dry food) - maybe once a day but I was worried about her nutrition (weighs about 3 pounds). She did not throw up the wet and was active. Then late Thursday afternoon she threw up the wet from her lunch so I said OK enough.
we go to the vet on Friday morning at 8 AM. No temp, no tummy tenderness to suggest an obstruction. No poo for a fecal. He asked if she had diarrhea (because she felt loose goosey ? ) and I said no. He gave her wormer and put her on a diet of Science Diet canned Intestional Diet. Said to give her that for a few days and then slowly introduce whatever type of food I want. I'm to bring a poo sample if I can get one so they can do a fecal.
now to my question.
On the 30 minute drive from the vet I started thinking. I didn't think she had diarrhea because her hinny was clean, I saw no feces outside the box. But I did see her have some liquid stool on the night I brought her home. I assumed it was from the meds and the spay surgery. But she has NOT been having a normal poo. Not at all. I've been cleaning her box and all the wastes were wet - not stool form
She feel great but I sure hope we can get this tummy issue straightened out.
She started the prescription diet Friday. SD ID wet food only
no vomiting until about 3:30 this morning (Sunday) she threw up a little bile but no food
I have enough prescription diet for 2 or 3 more days and hopefully can get a poo sample
I did notice a more normal looking stool once yesterday.
She says she is hungry. I am giving her 1/2 can of the SD divided into 2 portions as I know it is nutrient dense but she wants more.
She will go back to vet this week. I would love any suggestions or ideas you might have.
I'm debating what dry food to put her back on. I purchased some Wellness Complete kitten but I have read many reviews of people who had some problem with loose stools so I am leaning towards SD or Royal Canine.
Thanks all.
