I live in the DC area and right now it is 89 degrees. Tomorrow and Monday it is suppose to go up to 98 degrees and they say with the heat index it could reach 115. I have COPD and I can't take this kind of heat. The air conditioner in my car does not work too well so I will be staying home all next week.

I am sorry the weather is causing you issues.  This sounds like the weather by me earlier in the week. I kept getting migraines.  I hope you are able to stay home and hide in the air conditioning.  I did not leave my house much last week except to go to work.

Right now it is 88F with a real feel of 102 and 73% humidity.

Hi Catlover 73,

Thanks for replying. You are the one with the sweet husband.  I'm sorry that you have migraines. That can't be good in this heat.  Looks like you have also have high humidity. We have it too and that's worse than the high heat.

I'm retired so I can stay home when the weather is bad.  Being retired is so nice when we have snow storms or this high heat.

Yes, staying home is great because you do not have to fight the heat, snow storms...

You can also stay home when you do not feel well, and not have to worry about the repercussions from doing that.

It is 70 degrees right now, nice and cool. We had a horrendous storm go through late day yesterday. I guess it was a bit cooler, but I stayed inside with the AC on.

Today is supposed to be hot again in Boston and west of it. Along the shore, it is supposed to be a bit cooler. I am keeping the windows shut and keeping the AC on. I am tired of all this humidity. It has really gotten to me...

I have asthma, not bad, but enough that I should be using a steroid inhaler daily, but I do not because I hate using steroids of any kind. I get all the weird autoimmune things, like a yeast infection each time I use the steroid inhaler. I do rinse, rinse, rinse, but still get it.. weird. I have hypothyroid, have allergies, now spots of eczema, microscopic colitis, have one episode of shingles, cannot sit in the sun due to a rash I get from it, asthma, osteoarthritis, the list goes on.. each day is almost a new autoimmune issue.

I am thinking it is because I was an x-ray tech for many years before I went into ultrasound. It seems a lot of us 'older' x-ray techs have autoimmune issues. Even though we used safeguards at the time, we were still exposed to the accumulated effects of the x-rays..I also held a lot of kids and babies for x-rays, did a lot of portable exams, and the fluoroscopy...My badge never registered high values, but who knows... The profession has changed so much over the years...

rambling now...

Cannot wait for cooler weather with lower humidity...

We have had temps over 100 degrees all week and no rain, but the garden and the flowers are absolutely beautiful this year, we had a fairly wet spring here in SW Nebraska. The bugs are horrible this year, I water flower beds every two days in this heat and in that amount of time whole plants can be stripped.I started in Feb with the weeding and it helped, this is one of the first years I have kept up with having a dozen extensive flower areas on our acre weeded. It was a lot easier back then too, if it was green, it was a weed and needed to be destroyed.

The humidity is lower today, we're supposedly going to have a cold front move through today, highs will be in the low 90's next week, yeah, I think! When it was 104 and dew points near 70, it was absolutely miserable. Our 'heat index' was 110-115,  all outdoor activity was done by 11:00. But that's the nice thing about being retired, there is always tomorrow and my calendar is pretty clear.  My favorite time of the year is coming, fall, hot days but cool crisp mornings, I can't wait!

We're officially in a heatwave.

Yesterday, we had errands to run in the morning so had no choice but to go out.

Today, we really needed to go to Home Depot but, we both agreed we would prefer to vegetate in the house.  The internet is our friend lol.

I had told hubby this morning I needed to run to the store after work to get breakfast food for this week. I decided it was too hot and bought donuts instead. I will get real breakfast stuff when this heat and humidity goes away. I have a very active job so I can deal with junk food for a few days.

I'm in Central Florida and it's utterly miserable here!  The heat is bad enough, but when it's combined with through-the-roof humidity it becomes unbearable.  What I wouldn't give for some snow!  I have no idea how I ended up in Florida.  I'm am definitely not a lover of the heat.

looks like another 4 days folks=stock up on some popsicles or other cool treats!

My welders will be melting out on the shop floor in another hour. right now its manageable. but come 12 pm it will start to get miserable. they get about 5 hours of good work out of an 8 hour shift. as once it gets to 90 out in the shop they need to take 10 min breaks every hour and most of the guys are much older and don't tolerate the heat as well as they used to. Some of them are very stubborn and don't listen to me. I am so thankful I have AC in here. I turn it down to 75 but everyone else keeps it on 70. brr!

It's 92 but the real feel is 99! My boys won't go outside they say it's too hot. So it will be movies and games in the a/c today.

Hot outside as usual. It is predicted to be hot the rest of the week, although a bit lower humidity.

I signed up for a severe weather alert on my phone. I keep getting warnings about severe thunderstorm this afternoon and tonight.

I think we will have an 8 or 9 day heat wave, if not longer. We are already in day 4 of it..

I keep raising the temp on the AC because I feel so cold in here. Right now it is on 74....I may raise it up to 75 and put the air purifier on as a fan, to keep the air circulating.

Artie is comfortably sleeping on the coach. He has not moved since I left the house at 9:30am.
