My 13 yo male, Churchill has suddenly become very ill. He is currently lethargic, dialated pupils and nauseated. It all started 2 days ago. He started vomiting, i thought he had a hairball, didnt worry to much. Th next day he continued vomiting but just bile. He stopped eating and drinking and was isolating himself in bathroom or under couch (very unusual for my very social kitty) by mid day on day two i startedtk worry. He is smacking his lips (vet said this is sign of nausea), eye look glassy and he stares into space, still isolated himself, coat looks dull and he is not grooming, still no food, no water, not eliminating. Day three (today) took.him to vet, was dehydrated, listless, an im really concerned. Dr gave iv fluids, anti nausea shot and metronidazole for home. She drew blood after fluids an is sending to lab. Strange part of this is that he did this sam e thing last year and results all came back normal then.

Has anyone else had this experience? Thank you for offering your thoughts.

Does the vet think he has a blockage?  Or did he eat something that he shouldn't have?   What did you do to get him better when this happened last year?

Did she check his bowels?  Is he constipated or his bowels impacted?

It sounds like he ate something he shouldn't have.  Wait for the blood test results, that will tell you....you should have them within a day.

Church has recovered. I guess with fluids and anti nausea shot was the ticket. Will have labs back this week. He's eating, talking alot, and back ton himself. Thanks for concern. I don't keep him on revolution regularly but if labs come back good i guess I'm gonna have to to prevent parasites cause that is vet was thinking it was. He doesn't like revolution when I apply it, he runs around like crazy and itches at application area. And we have boxer who is treated so she keeps fleas at bay. But since he is getting older, he must be less tolerable to parasites. Do you know of alternatives to revolution?

There are a couple of alternatives to Revolution.  You can try Frontline or Advantage II.  I can't give Revolution to one of my kitties because she has an adverse reaction to it.  If you have fleas, you can always give capstar to treat the fleas and then pick up the tapeworm meds from the vet.
