This is Artie's favorite 'go to toy'... He is on his second one!

I thought the first one was getting beat up, so I got rid of it.. No, he really wanted one. I had to go out and get him a new one. This is it. It is 2 years old. Artie acts as if it is his security toy. It is flat, the catnip is all crushed, and it exudes a catnip powder when squeezed.

I have a newer one, which I am trying to get him accustomed to.

Mogli loves his kraken and plays with it just about every day. An elderly woman crochets them for the shelter to sell to raise money. The stuffing is steeped in valerian root. I've bought several as gifts and have to replace Mogli's periodically. The shelter cats love them, too.

Honeybee on my lap, music playing in background

This is Pumpkin Face-she LOVES catnip!

These Yeowww catnip fish/bananas. They are 3-5 yrs old and they all still lick them and chew them up. Then those fuzzy mouse with rabbit fur with rattles. They all play with them. First the tail gets chewed off. Then they chew on the body and when they chew it open I toss them. Honeybee carries them outside and I find them in my garden. I don't even bother bringing them back in-if I do-she carries another one out there-right now there is one in the catmint bush. I think they like to bat it around.

...with the cats...
great question!
punky also loves to chew, on pretty much anything so i must keep a close eye on her. these days, she'll mostly chew on cardboard -- boxes, scratchers, etc. she doesn't eat the cardboard, just enjoys chewing off pieces of it.

for our deedee, she loves those little fur covered mice with tails. she also absolutely loves a piece of paper, crumpled into a ball. she'll bat it around, and then settle into ripping off little bits of the paper with her teeth.

our jaspurr adores his birthday gift for this year, the ripple rug...

he also loves catnip filled toys in particular.

Da Bird.  This has been discussed in the babbling thread, at length.  It is an obsession.  I have been close to choking Da Cat over Da BIrd several times now.  She will sit and YOWL at me until I swing Da Stick.  Sometimes she doesn't even want to chase it...she just wants to watch it fly by.  SIGH

I'm on my feet all day at work so I wear out socks pretty quickly. I now cut my old ones up into small shapes, fill them with polyfill and catnip, and sew them up. The cats really love them. They like them a lot better than the store-bought catnip toys and it got me wondering if (even though they ARE washed)  those homemade ones still smell a little like my feet?
I don't know why they would like that but then again, they're always trying to sleep in the dirty clothes hamper!

Hair ties. Confiscated from me of course. Otherwise my stuffed animal that I keep in my therapy bag. He seems to think that bag belongs to him.

Casey loves hair ties he steels from me.  He does not try to eat them and loves the bat them around my house.

Apollo loves foam ball toys.  He used to fetch but suddenly decided to stop years ago.  He also loves the laser pointer.

Sonny loves chewing up white shoe laces and leaving them laying around.  We have to hide our gym shoes in the closet.  He also loves the laser pointer.

Starbuck loves catnip toys and will play with the laser pointer if it is just her and daddy.

I've heard that Valerian root smells a bit like old socks and some cats go crazy for that.

One of my cats loves socks and shoes too, he's always sticking his nose into my sweaty running shoes.

For Clyde it's this short piece of shoe lace. Where ever he sets up a nest, it's there. I've waken up to find he's delivered it to me as a present.

For Bonnie it's the stuffed mouse that once had catnip in it. Her latest 'trick' with it is to put it in their water bowl, retrieve it, then stare at it because it's soggy. Once it's dry, she does it again. lol

Many cats love the smell of sweaty socks/shoes.  It's similar to valerian.

Jasmine's favorite is a catnip mouse that was crocheted by a lady in choir with me.  She is now on her second one.

Floppy once up-chucked a huge furball, which she carefully hid until it was completely dry, at which point she treated it as a home-made mouse toy.  She was seriously offended when someone mistook it for a "mere" furball and threw it away.

Oh, yeah! One of my friends has a rug like that for her cats and she said they love it. I was going to get one and then forgot about it--thanks for the reminder. :)

This is the all-around favorite in our house. They all four takes turns in it, either sleeping, or crashing through it, or one of them ambushing whoever is trying to sleep in it. :lol3:
