its 1 am, and was about to go to sleep and was looking through pinterest. I found a list of toxic plants, and it turns out that hydrangeas are toxic to cats. dont normally buy flowers, but the few times i did my cat ate them.

my sister in law bought a huge box of hydrangeas for a family members wedding. its in the living room in a bucket of water. my cat was curious and went to sniff it, but i didnt see her eat any.

now im worried about going to sleep and my cat eating the flowers, everyones asleep. lol

i googled it and some sites said to rush to an emergency if they ate the flowers, others just said they get diarrhea.... so im confused. please help!

Edit: ended up putting them in a high place so the cats can't reach. My cat seems fine sleeping peacefully. I still don't know for sure if she ate any. =, (

That's your best bet.  They are toxic to cats, dogs and horses (although if you have a horse in your living room, hydrangeas are the least of your worries).   That said, I've had a lot a cats, and a good many hydrangeas, and have never seen one of my cats even think of doing more than giving them a sniff.

Now, lilies are different,  Even licking a paw with lily pollen on it can kill a cat,  But I thnk you are ok with the hydrangeas,  Just keep an eye out for a few days.  It will do best planted outside, anyway.
