Hello
I have a beautiful American shorthair (kiara) who I love dearly. she is very independent but lately she's been weird. She's extra affectionate, meows more than usual and has become a tiny bit chubbier.
She did have a recent heat cycle about 17 days ago
And we do have a male cat in the house.
I am just curious if she is pregnant or not
Could anybody tell me

17 days is a little early to tell.  Pregnant cat's nipples pinken and become more prominent on day 21.

She is beautiful.

If you have an intact male that she was allowed access to she is almost definitely pregnant. How old is she?

She's still quite young and growing herself, so I would start her on kitten food immediately.  She should have unlimited access to dry kitten food and several meals of wet kitten food per day.

Now would also be a good time to have your male neutered.  He will still be fertile for up to a month after his surgery, and can get her pregnant again within a week of delivery.

I don't believe in spaying and neutering I feel that it's like robbing the cat from its motherhood .[emoji]128533[/emoji]
I thought a million times before bringing a cat .
I either buy a not neutered and nit spayed cat and be responsible for it and it's kitties or not buy one at all.

I used to feel weird about the spaying and neutering myself. Then I seen my beautiful girl go through labor. Never again! She is spayed now and so are all of the kittens. Hearing her cry was the hardest thing when I couldn't help her.

With her being so young there is so many things that could go wrong. Death of her or the kittens. She may not produce milk. If that is the case you would have to hand feed every two hours around the clock. She may reject them.

Then feeding them is expensive in it's self then litter and vet care. Usually if one gets sick they all will.

Some humans do feel a desire for children. Cats do not. Cats have hormonal impulses driving them to mate.  These hormones control their lives and make them uncomfortable, but that's not that the same as a desire or a wish. They have no dreams of a future with their children.

They also can't stop. A female cat can have three litters per year. This will deplete all nutrients from the female's body and significantly shorten her life. A delivery gone wrong will kill her. Male cats will fertilize litter after litter after litter. Sexually transmitted diseases are spread. There is inbreeding.

If you have intact cats in your house, they will continue to reproduce without end!  What will you do with all of those kittens?  It's not fair to your cats, and they won't get to have the life you want to give them as treasured pets.

Overpopulation is a HUGE issue, but we are talking about an unhappy life of painful mating and risky deliveries. Is that what you want for them?

Cats don't have a need to experience motherhood. Those are emotions that you are feeling. Cats are much healthier not having heat cycles and pregnancies, especially as a kitten still herself. Same goes for a male. And, there are so many kittens in need of homes that aren't available, that they get euthanized.

I agree one hundred percent with everything that's been said here.

You've taken responsibility for this one lovely cat.  With all the cats in the world the universe saw fit to give you her.  Please do the best thing for her and her health and spay her.  It will be a relatively small thing for you, but it will eliminate a mountain of suffering for her.

I love my cat so much and of coarse I don't wanna see her in pain but it's nature.
It's like if a person sees a woman giving birth and in pain he'll just remove her uterus so she won't be in pain. It's just awful.
The pain that comes with bearing a child is what makes a mother who she is.
Even in animals .
What gives humans the right to kill an animal because they are "over populated", remove their reproductive organs or declaw .

If you do not believe in spaying and neutering then perhaps you should rehome your male cat.  It doesn't make any sense to have your female cat producing three litters per year and risking her health.  I believe that all animals that are pets should be spayed and neutered, because that is part of what we can do for them for their health and comfort.  It's not exactly how it was in the wild, but it doesn't have to be!

Having a breeding pair is not a healthy, safe, or fair choice for your cats.

The male (mesho) is my cousins cat and he got him from a lady that wasn't taking care of him and he had a lot of fungus and stuff we took care of him and after he was all good and treated my cousin had a business trip so he left him with me that's when it all happened.
He won't be staying with me when my cousin comes back anyways. Mesho was doing weird things that's why I thought he didn't know how to..
When I felt that she's acting weird I went to the doctor for a checkup ( a week ago) and it just popped in my head to ask him if she was pregnant and he said that she isn't pregnant.
I was still concerned because she was acting weird I searched he Internet and decided to ask you guys
