Yes, that CAN be the result.  I've personally seen this; for instance, my family's second cat was rescued as a kitten in the middle of the street in back of ours, where he was sitting by his Siamese mother, who had been hit-and-runned.
He was a magnificent longhaired black cat with very silky fur that had a reddish (brown) cast.  I've also seen other cats whose moms were Siamese and whose humans didn't get them spayed; they did have "romantic interludes" with handsome ebony princes, and the results were shorthaired black cats with reddish-brown casts to their fur.  I'm not at all a proponent of selective "breeding" in cats (or humans, for that matter) -- but these are results I have personal knowledge of.
Well.. that explains a lot why my grandma's cat gave birth to so many kitties with those exact traits.. My grandma used to feed a siamese that showed up in her yard pregnant.. She didn't know if she belonged to anyone, but she didn't care. So the cat stayed in my grandparents house. She gave birth and 3 out of 5 kittens were black with brown cast - just as you describe.. Only one was like her.. Also, there was a male black cat, who was wandering over there and seemed to try to get close to the mommy cat.. My grandpa used to chase him away (he was afraid for the kittens), but he'd always come back.. Long story short, my grandma started feeding him too and they ended up with the couple living in their house for several years, while they had several litters.. And they almost all looked just as you described. Both of the cats died of old age, having lived a full and happy life together.

I must note, that this happened many years ago, when my grandparents were alive (duh!
) but didn't know much about spaying and neutering.. Both my grandparents grew up with farm animals and they didn't see any harm in letting them give birth.. They "let life take its course".. Also they lived in a quiet village in Northern Greece and they had a lot of strays, but the strays were not a "problem" as we would perceive nowadays.. The stray cats and dogs were part of their community. They all had names, they were all fed, they all had a place to sleep at night or during winters.. It was like, each stray was everyone's pet.. Every house was open to any stray that would look for a place to sleep or eat. People didn't chase them away. The village had a vet, so if something happened, he would take care of any animal in trouble.. didn't matter if it was someone's horse, or one of the strays.. It was a pretty cool situation, if you ask me..

Sounds really nice actully I had a stray around and I couldn't find room for him in a manged colony of ferals or have him T N R because he was not feral enough??? Yet no shelter would take him ( they were full besides this as well) because he was not a cat that could be handled, petted yes but not medicated ect. So much for modern "care"

And then there is the treament of barn cats in the rural area I now live there is a elderly man who apperantly will neuter males cats in a stove pipe like gelding farm animals. If he is how I think he is he is to ill to be up and about right now so maybe that has come to an end.

That is a wonderful "tale"!  And yes, you are right.  There are still places in this mean messed-up world where community cats are loved and admired, and not harmed.  I love those people in those places.

Yes, indeed, it's "Oh My Cat".  Used a lot in cat-loving circles and not original, but I sure am glad you like it.  And yes, there are still some amazingly wonderful people on this earth.  A lot of them are on this site.
