...it took every ounce of self-restraint I had not to strangle him today...okay, well not really strangle him...but man was I angry!

I woke up today and couldn't find my glasses. I put them in the same exact spot every night, just out of reach (I thought) so that he can't smack them around at night like he's done before. Well, last night he did, and I couldn't find them.

I searched for an hour, moved my bed, looked in crevices, tore my bedroom apart. I couldn't find them. No luck, anywhere. I am blind as a bat without my glasses. I even said a prayer to St. Anthony, even though I'm not a very good Catholic. My bedroom became a demilitarized zone of books, clothes and everything else, upended and tossed and searched, all while pretty much blind, telling Bud that we might have to get him a dog-style crate for night time, threatening to put him in the bathroom overnight, wishing he could understand me and reply to me...and finally, finally, I found my glasses, wedged in a tiny space INSIDE a ventilation unit built into the wall.

I thanked God and St. Anthony because I would have had to rely on a friend or family member, ask them to drive me to an optician, wait who knows how long for a pair of glasses (usually it takes weeks when I get new glasses, since my prescription is so severe they usually have to order the lenses), and live like a blind man in the meantime, unable to do half the stuff I'd need to do. And I would have been unable to work, because how could I curate homepages and read without being able to see, much less administer a CMS?

Lesson? I need to lock my glasses away in a drawer or something at night, and I need to get a second pair for emergencies. (Oh, and I will not banish Bud to a crate or the bathroom...but I was tempted. And I even gave him a hug and told him I love him after he hopped on the bed to sleep last night! The ungrateful jerk! lol)

Sorry for the rant...just had to.

OUCH!  How frustrating.  So glad you found the glasses!  I had to laugh, though.  Good story.

I went through that with a bottle of prescription meds that I used to leave on the bedside table.  Do you know how much fun it is to bat around a rolling object that also makes fun noises that sounds like there's treats inside?  And somehow it would end up under the bed, right in the middle, where it could only be reached with a broom handle.  Now the glasses, prescription bottles and anything else fun to play with go in the drawer, not on top of the table.  Live and learn.

Oh they just love script bottles, don't they? Bud has batted around his share of those too lol.

The glasses thing kills me because I'm horribly poor sighted, 20/600 or something like that. It's absurd. Without my glasses, I would not be able to recognize someone I know unless I walked right up to them. Had my glasses repaired at Costco once and I had to hold on to a shopping cart my brother was pushing while I waited for the repair, because all I see are colors and shapes.

I've wondered what life would be like for someone like me before humanity had any technology for correcting vision.

Oh, boy.  Lucky you were able to find them.  Sounds you definitely need a spare pair!

I'm glad you found them!  I'm also in the 20/400-20/600 vision range and I worry about my cat deciding my glasses are a chew toy, I hadn't considered him hiding them. Fortunately I can wear contacts so I have them fall back on them if my glasses disappear, (and being paranoid I have a spare pair of glasses in my car). I'm afraid keeping them in a drawer may not be enough to keep them away from Tiki the Cat...
