Good morning, happy shiny people!  It's time for Wednesday's question of the day!

What is your favorite color, and how would you describe that color to a blind person?

This will actually tell us more about why you like that color than just saying, "I like it because"

I'll go first...my favorite is purple.

Purple is the taste of a good Merlot.  It is peaceful moments at the end of a busy day.  It is the touch of velvet on my skin.

Agreed. Purple is the only color that really matters.

I'd call it when sunset and night collide. It's not black yet but the blues, pinks and reds are preparing to mix and then submit to the blackness. It's the color velvet would be if it had a say in the matter. The color of royalty.

I like blue in its many shades from pale Monet blue to deepest navy. It is cool and soothing. It doesn't jangle or excite the nerves.

We can certainly call it sea glass, although actual sea glass is greeny-er, almost the color of the paler parts of the old, returnable coke bottles.

I'm a purple  lover too, but as it's already been described so well I'll go for my second favourite colour.

Scarlet.

Scarlet is the colour you feel when you snuff out a candle between your finger tips. It's the colour you taste when you bite into a ripe cherry, dark and slightly sour mingled with the sweet. Scarlet is the smell of roses.

I love sage green, the smell of just mown grass, the peaceful feeling of looking at a dewey hillside in the early morning. I have many vases of flowers scattered around my house that include blues and purples, next to a sage green wall they are stunning with ornamental grasses, cattails, and corkscrew reeds.  I have to look forever for the perfect shade, it has more gray then yellows, muted and darker than a pastel.

Beautiful descriptions, all.
Aren't they?  And give such wonderful insight into the poster's mind, as well.  We have some members with "purty brains."

well, it was between sage green and yellow. i lean more towards yellow as my favorite color. i would describe yellow as warm, happy, cheerful, and...alive!
