Ok i have this cat we named him Fluffy, he is a mixed-breed, he used to be active but due to some complications to his testicles.. he became inactive, his testicles swollen and i brought him to the vet and the doctor removed one of his testicles... during the surgery the doctor found out that his tail also got infected but the doctor gave me antibiotics (Betamox) and also Prednil for

now its been 1 week after the surgery and from what i observed my cat is not feeling any better, the tail is getting worse i think half of it is dead already :( .. so i brought him again to the vet yesterday and the doctor said the tail needs to be amputated and gave me another medicine and to ask me to come back in a week for the surgery... the problem is i cant stand watching Fluffy like that... he used to be very active and noisy and now hes like another cat :(

I plan to bring him again to the vet today to have the tail amputated immediately as i think waiting for another week can be painful for him as from what i can see.. the end of the tail have pus already... and also the surgery from the balls.. also got infected with pus .. please help what can i do? we dont have a very good/professional vet here and the medicine not much choice..

At the moment i cannot give Fluffy the sand for his pee/poo as lastym the particle sticks to the pus and make it worse.. but then Fluffy pee/poo on the newspaper... this makes him dirty on the other hand... i really dont know what to do :(

Can you provide some general information about what area you live in.  This is forum has members from all over the world. Perhaps someone here has another vet they could recommend in your area.

I do not have personal experience with this issue but I am sorry you and your baby are having such a hard time right now.

Sending Fluffy mega prayers and vibes from California for speedy healing, and adding some for comfort and encouragement for you, too!

If he is still eating, that is a good sign. You could try adding some L-lysine to his food (no more than 500mg per day) to help boost his immune system.

Also, if you can go online and find a holistic vet, they could advise you on possible herbs to try - some herbs such as marshmallow root, catnip and dandelion can be beneficial but you need an expert to guide you.

If he is having loose stools, you could try adding some canned pumpkin or some applesauce to his diet, also some probiotics. Greek yogurt is a good source of probiotics but you can also sprinkle some from a capsule (no more than 1/3-1/2 capsule to start).

If Fluffy will allow it, you can VERY GENTLY place a warm, wet washcloth (not too warm because his inflamed tissues will be sensitive to heat) near his infected, pussy areas. He might also like having a heated rice sock placed under a soft mat - again, the warmth will help bring healing circulation to the area.

Be sure he gets lots and lots of fresh water - monitor him closely for dehydration. If the skin on his neck doesn't go right back down when gently lifted, try giving him some unflavored Pedialyte (I dilute it with water - about 1/3 for cats and 1/2 for kittens). If you cant get Pedialyte you can make a homemade electrolyte replacer with 1 cup water, 2 teaspoons sugar and a pinch of baking soda and a pinch of salt. If he wont drink it on his own, use an eyedropper or the end of a straw to put a small amount inside his cheek, between his cheek and his lower jaw - so he doesn't inhale it into his lungs by mistake. Staying hydrated and also keeping him nourished will strengthen his body for the upcoming surgery.

Also, he needs lots and lots of rest and comfort. Gently combing his fur is both healing and comforting to him. Please keep us updated on how he is doing! Be strong, Fluffy, your TCS family is rooting and praying for you!!!

i really love ur suggestions but those are very technical and some of the medicine u mentioned hardly can be found around here... my only reliable source is the vet, im so scared to feed Fluffy others coz im afraid it will make things worse... yes he is still eating but not a lot... but still okay i think.. and his stools are fine but he hardly can poo due to the pus at the testicles and the tail :(.. but what do u think of the medicines that the vet gave Fluffy... are they fine? and for the heated rice sock... i think i can provide that later :) and thank u for the prayers.. it really made me sad looking how his condition now... and as for the fur and drinking... hes fine but as i mentioned.. not active .. and he rarely meow like how he used to.. :(
