I have been feeding a stray cat for about two years now. She is always happy to see me and will let me pet her, but has never really come inside. Last fall, I coaxed her in with food and closed the door behind her. I had a vet come see and vaccinate her, but afterwards she freaked out and got out of the room I had her in going above a vent. She got into the crawl space and would not let me near her, and since I'm a renting an apartment in an old house with lots of holes and big vents and inaccessible spaces which I could not get her out of, I let her back outside. I didn't see her again till spring, but it seemed all was forgiven and I set about trying to coax her in more gently and slowly.

But now, I think she might be pregnant. She's around more (more than once a day), friendlier, eating more, and feels rounder (she's very petite). But her nipples aren't pinking and aren't particularly big, so it could go either way. But unless someone spayed her (there are the programs around here but she's not tipped and I've never seen a shaved belly) it was just a matter of time. If she's pregnant she's probably around 30 days.

If she does turn out to be pregnant, I'm not sure what to do. I don't want the same thing to happen as last time, or for her to freak out so bad that she injures herself or her kittens. Last time I got her in she destroyed my kitchen tearing around and trying to get out of the window. Due to the layout and oldness of my apartment, blocking off access to all spaces and vents isn't really possible, nor is ushering her into a small room from outside.

I am kind of hoping that the pregnancy will make her want to come inside.

My other option I guess is to try to trap her in a carrier and get her into my bedroom which is the only secure room I can close off.

Or to wait until she has the kittens and then try to find them. I expect she would still come to my house for food and pets.

I would appreciate any ideas or suggestions!

If you can get her inside to a safe room in your house, that would be better and safer her and the kittens. If you can make her a little area in your room, She might actually like it. My cats love boxes,  Maybe put a box with some soft blankets inside.  She will probably get used to be indoors in a few days. Cats can be skiddish at first. I adopted a cat who hid underneath the bed for days. I think she'll adjust. You will feel better too! Good luck with your kitty.
