Hi everyone! Am new here. I joined this place three days ago and am already fond of it. I come from Egypt. I am still new to cats and i wish to be able to provide the best for them. We adore them.

I have two male cats, Luly is 8 months and Tuti is 3 months. I made a silly mistake as i thought my little one was a female but after one month a friend told me that he is a little boy :) this explained a lot as i was wondering why they didnt get along at first. Now they are getting a long well. My big boy is so gentle to the little hyper active cutie baby. I was told that this wont last for long and it is only a few months before they start fighting as two male adults. I was also adviced by some nice helpful members here to get them neutered. Am still thinking about.

These are my lovely babies.

Welcome!! They are both gorgeous!!

I can't recommend neutering the both of them strongly enough. If they are not, they could very well get into some NASTY fights. They will also want to get out and start "dating". This will lead to litter after litter of kittens being born. They will also wander and get into fights with other intact toms. I know a lot of people don't think that it's proper to have a pet fixed but it really is in their best interest. They are both ready now. The sooner the better. This is a VERY pro spay and neuter site so you are going to get a lot of gentle nudging from us to have it done. It is not because we are judging you or telling you what to do. It is because we care about ALL cats- not just our own. Way too many cats and kittens are euthanized every single day because shelters and rescues simply don't have the room or the resources to care for them all. It's heartbreaking. We are simply looking to cut that number down as much as possible.

Mistaking a kitten's gender is not silly at all. Sometimes it's hard to tell.

We are glad you found us. Please ask us anything you like. We are here to help.

Thank you guys! You really are precious. I still donno how to use the options here very well. I mean i still donno how to tag you in my comments or reply directly so you might have to put up with me a bit :)

Luli really used to be more of a trouble maker but now he is calmer. Tuti however is so active as he is a very fast runner, he can jump long distances and so playful , he wouldnt even let my daughter sleep after 5 a.m. Coz she is his play companion [emoji]128516[/emoji] Both kitties like to play , scratch and bite which is cool even though Luli has changed lately and refuses to be touched or carried around , he sleeps alot yet he is so independent and bossy [emoji]128525[/emoji]

Am still scared if the idea of neutering although i might eventually have to do it coz it seems to be the best solution to some important issues. I fear it might be painful or unfair to them. Am giving it some thought though.

Thank you again!

it is really not painful for males. It's a very quick procedure unlike for females who need invasive surgery. the recovery time for males is quick. They will be much calmer and they will get along even better once it is done. They do not need to father kittens in order to have happy, fulfilling lives. They have you and each other and will have wonderful, happy lives full of love and friendship. That is all they really need. They will never know the difference. There are too many unwanted cats and kittens out there already.

@luluwahid your furbabies are beautiful...one other thing to consider about neutering is the fact they will start spraying soon if they have not already...which if they aren't neutered smells really bad and can ruin shoes clothes carpets etc...what ever they decide to spray on...this is their way of marking their territory...getting the neutered can most times stop this and it makes the pee not smell as bad...now I've heard stories of cats still spraying after they get fixed...but as for myself every male cat I've had...because I got them neutered in time...never sprayed after that...and I've had tons of cats throughout my lifetime...welcome to the catsite...this place is an awesome forum for us cat parents and cat lovers ...people here are very knowledgeable...and another thing that is great is you get differing opinions and ideas on all things cats which will and can help you chose what you deem best for your furbabies...there are several different forums you can click on and glean from as well as offer your own suggestions to help others out as well...tons of blessings to you and your babies meow [emoji]128049[/emoji][emoji]128571[/emoji][emoji]128008[/emoji][emoji]128518[/emoji]

@luluwahid...well then you may just have your answer about getting them neutered then [emoji]128518[/emoji] i just want to add a few more reasons to get them neutered...like the above mentioned...they will try to escape and they generally are able to if they are not fixed...is yes they could get into fights...but they can contract diseases like feline hiv/aids...they could also get hit by cars...attacked by people or dogs...I don't say this to scare you I bring this up because these are the very real dangers of what happens to cats who aren't spayed/neutered...blessings to you

Long hair shirazi is also known as Persian. I don't see any Bengal in there at all though

This is what a Bengal looks like

You're welcome.
Do yourself a favor and get them used to being groomed ASAP because they are going to need it. You don't want that beautiful long hair to get matted. It's no fun at all.

Sure. Long haired cats tend to get mats (clumps of tangled hair) in their coats. These are hard to get out once they start. It's best to give them a grooming once daily to keep these at bay. Combs such as this one one in the link below work well. This one is just an example. You might find a similar one locally. Since they are still quite young, it might be easier to get them used to brushing and combing now rather than wait until they are older and decide they don't like it. If you have a local pet groomer who works on cats, you might want to get the sanitary shave done. This will make life easier too. The groomer will shave around their bum and privates and this will prevent what I call "litterbox hitchhikers". It also makes it easier for the cat to groom that area.

If for some reason, you do find a mat or a tangle that a comb will not take care of, I highly recommend something like this

Thats very useful information. My baby Tuti (3 months) has a clump behind his neck. My elder Luli (8 mnth) has one in his tail. I didnt know about grooming or if there are places to get groomed. I guess i know little about cats. So i better start using those. Thank you

@Kat0121 btw you have a lovely cat [emoji]128525[/emoji]
Thank you. That is my Sophie. She is my feline soul mate.

You can also use a detangler spray to help comb out knots. I use this one but you can use whatever kind you want as long as it says that it is safe for cats on the bottle or label.
