I went to see my vet on 7/6/16. My kitten was experiencing some problems with walking & a hunched back. The vet took X-rays determined it was narrowed discs in his back. He gave him a cortisone injection, & prednisolone & sent us on our way. He told us if it looks like it's getting worse or he's in pain to bring him back. (when we went he wasnt showing any pain) so, I had lengthy instructions for his meds. He's been on them for 5 days now. 1/4 tab of a 5mg tablet every 12 hours for 5 days, then once every 24 hours for 5 days, then, once every 48 hours.

Problem is, he hasn't shown any improvement. Im planning another trip to the vet in the morning. I've read that prednisolone works rather quickly, but he's barely shown signs of getting better. Now, it seems he's in pain. I've lost sleep every night trying to make sure he's okay. No one is up late but me, so during the day he has babysitters while I try to get sleep before his next dose of meds.

Am i missing something, here? He's 7 months old, & while the doc told me that he has narrowed disc, I didn't hear him say he has any inflammation in his back. I don't know what to do? I'm exhausted. I literally broke down today. Ive google searched endlessly about this.

I need some advice or help, or anything really. I've called emergency hospitals they all said wait until morning. He's laying down fine now, so, I knew it wasnt critical pain.

I honestly don't have any experience with this problem at all, I'm so sorry to hear about your little guy having these issues though. Is it possible that your vet can refer you to a specialist? Honestly not sure what type would be able to help. My guess is either orthopedic or neurological (since the nerves might be pinched, that can cause a lot of pain).

I originally thought it was a pinched nerve or a pulled muscle. Cause he was limiting his jumping, but wasnt showing any sign of discomfort. Now, he just lays on the floor. & that's about it. I mean, he's still eating & drinking. & he still potties normally. But, right now he's different.

So sorry to hear that.

It seems that we are experiencing the same.

Although my cat did get better because he now walks, he still spends most of the day just laying down, and when he walks he looks very uncomfortable doing it.

He also is in the same medications, which now he won't take because he refuses to.

I can't offer you any help but i really hope your cat does improve as mine did, and, being that we have the same problem i hope we can exchange information and help each other. You can read my post i did a few days back.

Good luck and i hope your baby recovers very quickly!
