Last night my girl's mucus plug broke and she had red ish brown discharge coming out. 18 hours later a fleshy sac full of liquid started to ooze out and then popped about an hour later, she hasn't had any contractions yet and she wont leave my side. This is my first litter with her but she has had 3 other previous litters with a different owner. Do i need to take her to the vet? Or do i just have to sit and wait on her contractions to start. Ive had only male cats my whole life and she's my first female ive had, so im not quite sure what to expect.

You wait and see so far.  Its apparently very nearing.   Read on during the time you wait!

What you must avoid is active but fruitless labor, where you perhaps even notice she is tiring...  Its high alarm and rush to the vet.

Pre-labor phase may be long, but the selve phase of active labor is shorter with cats than with humans, som max one hour, usually shorter.

I presume so,  letting out the sacks of fluid is really beginning of delivery.  Its not immediately dangerous, because the kittens are in their indiviudal sacks, but the maternal water has began to come out.

Its possible this thin bloody discharge isnt not really just discharge, but more of the maternal waters dropping out...  Becuase you say its evrywhere, so it seems to be quite a lot.

Sorry, I suspect it may become tricky.    You DO have access to a vet experienced in obstetrics?

Anyway, as delivery IS near, we must presume the kittens has "cooked" ready.  thus, a cesarean wont be dangerous, wont take them premature.   Which is otherwise a common danger wit a cesarean done too early.

If you, or the vet decide its best to take a cesaren to be on the safe side, you may do so without being afraid its too early....

I hope you understand my poor english.   :)

How is it going?  Please report now and then even if nothing much is happening.

Do you have access to a vet? Phone and ask advices?  Its often easier to give follow up questions per telephone, and for many its easier to talk.   For me its easier to write.

As she looks exhausted, CAN it be she HAD contractions and labor, but you didnt noticed it clearly?    Or its the usual exhaustion many high pregs do have??

You can smear some glucose sugar on her lips and gum - say white caro syrup or honey water...   Or if she wants to dring - give it her to drink.  Gives quick energy.

Anyways, if you have possibility to talk with a vet, it may be wise to do so.   Asap.

I think you need to take her to the vet. She shouldn't look exhausted and if she has no energy might not be able to have contractions strong enough to push the kittens out. I'd go now, just to be safe.

Wonderful!!!   So we are now back in the main track, the right tempo again.  Tx God!

Lets hope it will go OK from now. Continue to be watchful, its still Yellow Alert even if its not the Red Alert I was fearing it could be.
