The neighbor behind me has a woods on the other side of her house and an old shed in which a family of feral kittens was born in the spring. I trapped them all, including the mother and had they spayed and neutered.  I have been feeding them all, 5 kittens and one mom, since they were born. The know me and expect me every morning.  Now I want to move them to my property, to a pony barn I have, as my neighbor wants the shed for other things.  It is not a long way from where they are to where I want them to be but it is across the front of this woman's house and I think I cannot get them to come that way, too much traffic, and the back way is through a woods that has been known to have coyotes in it. Does anyone have any ideas for me?

Can you trap them again and move them?  They would have to be confined to your barn for a few weeks so they begin to recognize the barn as their new territory.  That seems to me to be the easiest and most expedient way to do it.

If the barn can't be secured, you could set up a large dog kennel inside it.  Use wire fencing across the top and down all for corners to make the openings too small for cats to get through.

Once they are acclimated to the barn, you can let them loose to explore their new home.

Thank you for helping them!

I have decided to just slowly walk them over here, using food as a catalyst.  One of the grown kittens has already come so I think by summer's end I will have them here.  The one that is here now is sleeping in the pony barn and eating at the picnic shelter...just what I want for all of them! I am going to take it slow and be patient.  It will help, really, when the owners of the shed fix it so the cats cannot get into it....  more motivation for them to come here. Thank you for your kind attention to my problem. I will be back here to post my progress and ask more questions.

I did something from the beginning that is helping with this and other things....  I created a call that I use every time I approach them from my house, or the car in winter. It is a high pitched ki-ki-ki-ki... repeated. They only come out of the woods when they hear it.  I recommend it for anyone who is dealing with ferals.
