Only just hit Australia in the last few days, I had no idea what all the fuss was about. I kept seeing posts on facebook and then saw a report on the News last night warning people to be careful when searching for one of these things in busy traffic area.
I've been playing it on my mom's tablet (she doesn't care) and have only caught Squirtle so far. In my living room last night lol. I didn't go outside to look because it was raining last night.
I just learned about it today. Someone was swirving in their car this morning.
So not sure if that was what they were doing. I think some adults don't know how to have things in moderation. I have an old phone and apps usually suck the battery down so I will pass. I tried to put fitbit in it and it drained my battery. It does sound like a great idea to get you moving! I think its a great idea but hopefully no one knocks on my door asking to go in the backyard!
I remember when Candy crush was the rage. I spent two months playing that stupid game. It is funny how things trend for a few weeks then something else comes along. Maybe one of us programers can invent a find the kitten app! We could be RICH!!! Kittens-puppies-and catmoms! oh and cat dads too-don't want them to feel left out!
I downloaded it yesterday while I was out on my walk and caught one. :lol3: There is no way I will be doing this consistently though. I'm not going to walk around with my phone up, plus it cut off my walking app.
You don't need to have the phone in your face while walking.. keep it in your pocket. it will vibrate, or make a noise if your sound is on, if there's a pokemon or pokestop nearby. I don't get why people have to watch their avatar move.. that can get dangerous (IE: Getting hit by cars, which allegedly has already happened?). I can see how distracting it is. I wonder how many people police pulled over already for playing the game, lol.
It gives me something to do during my lunch hour at work aside from spending money, lol. I'll take a drive to the park this afternoon and walk there to catch some more.
Oh, to save battery life, turn off the AR feature.
There are two articles about Pokemon Go in our local newspaper. One extols the virtues of the game, meaning that it's good to get outside, move around, talk to people, etc. The other article is in our Health section and it discusses doing stupid things while looking for the creatures: walking out in traffic, falling off your skateboard because you're not paying attention, getting lured into a PokeStop and then getting robbed (it seems that's really happening).
There are people around here who have 90+ characters already.
I'm going to download it during my lunch break today.
Heck, I'm still playing Candy Crush Soda and AB Pop. I still play Bubble Witch Saga 2 from time to time.
I downloaded it at lunch and captured my first creature....it was sitting on my foot at my desk. So, I guess my question is....now what? Do I just go for a walk and take my phone with me with the app opened? We're going down to Target tonight to pick up a prescription; do I take my phone with me? Are there creatures in stores? If I go to the mall, are there creatures at the mall? A PokeStop? A gym? The wife of a co-worker said she walked around outside in her yard and found 3 of them. Are they on my walking route? My route is just in a residential neighborhood, nothing fancy. Or should I walk over to town and check out any memorials in town? Cemeteries?
Yes, I am a complete idiot when it comes to games like this.
I think a PokeStop is like a virtual store. You find the PokeStop and then you pick up balls and other things that will help you capture these creatures. Am I on the right track, Draco?
Pokestops are places where you can collect pokeballs, eggs or items (it's random, you spin the icon and balls and items pop out at random. visit every 10 mins or so). You can usually find these in public places like post offices, houses of worship, libraries, diners and such.
Gyms are active when you hit level 5- You can battle other trainers and gather your team together.
Oh, another battery-saving tip- go to Settings and turn on Battery Saving. When you turn your phone upside down, the app fades out and preserves battery. But when you encounter pokemon or pokestop, it will vibrate or beep.
Walk around, pokemon will appear for you to catch! I am trying to find a good guide to explain things better. I am still learning myself
