Is it really Monday!?  This is one of those days where I am extra grateful to be a stay-at-home mom!!  We have not had a down-day since before the holiday weekend!  The Saturday before the 4th my Step-brother came to town with his wife; who I had not met yet because they had been living on the other side of the country.  The rest of the weekend was taken with BBQs and a birthday party.  My DD had a camp all week and this weekend we had another all day picnic for our church.  I guess most of it has been fun stuff; just a lot of fun at once!
But now I haven't done laundry in a week and a half.  We've been wearing clothing out of the laundry basket (clean!) as it is!  I just did a quick cleaning of my kid's bathroom counter because getting the toothpaste on the toothbrush has not been mastered.  I suppose it doesn't quite look like a bomb went off in here; but I've still got a lot to do!

Do you have a routine to your chores around the home?  Certain days for certain chores?

I used to have a better routine.  Monday was always laundry washing day.  Tuesday for folding because we air dry a lot.  Friday was for bathrooms and vacuuming.  I prefer to dust right before I vacuum.  I kept a running list of things that needed to be done on a chalk board in my kitchen.  Gardening is done daily this time of year.  I need to do a good weeding today.  I prefer to run the dishwasher in the morning.  The litter boxes are done right before I go to bed.

I need a new routine for inside though.  My 6 year old has learned to hand wash dishes (big thanks to my Mom for getting her doing that!) and sweep the kitchen.  She is helpful with dusting baseboards and things or sorting toys too.  It frustrates her though because my 4 year old isn't helpful at all unless I stand there directing him.
And that frustrates DD to no end.  I understand her feelings!  I tell her I hate being the only one cleaning too.

I don't have a routine, though I probably should.

I wake up and make my bed every day then I clean the kitty boxes before I do anything. That's the only constant. Apart from that, I kind of just clean throughout the day. Oh, Sunday's are my big laundry day.

Anybody who reads my posts in Name Three Things knows that I am anal that way.

Sunday mornings are for laundry and for changing the bed sheets. Wednesday nights are for laundry, for wiping down the fridge, and for scouring out the litter boxes because it's trash night (our trash guy goes early Thursday mornings). I try to make the bed every morning before grabbing my shower. And, for the most part, I probably vacuum every day, largely because of all the cat hair. Saturday mornings, I usually wipe down the kitchen counters and the bathroom, even though I wipe down the kitchen every night before cooking (I know where my cats are surfing when I'm not home!).

Monday nights are grocery shopping nights.

A lot of this is because I still work full time. Maybe if I was retired, I could afford to be a little more lenient with chores. As it is right now, this is the way things need to be done. Otherwise? Nothing at all would get done.

Honeybee on my lap, music playing in background
I don't have set days other than Tuesday night for dumping cat litter as trash comes wed morning.

in the morning I have to do things in order as I have short term memory issues from a long ago bump to the head so I try to do a routine and so far for 3 years its working.

morning-wake up-drink water-get cats meals-honeybee gets her puffs-scoop litter-shower then dress n grab my lunch,

at night its-cook dinner or eat out of the snacks etc-cats dinner again-let the cats out-go out and water my pots and whatever needs it-then later after everyone is in for the night-scoop the litter and start a load of laundry.

I am always washing clothes due to blankets/pillow cases always seem to get smelly fast from me sweating at night so I almost daily have something to wash.

I really need to do a better job of housecleaning. I work 7 days a week and often I break everything into small accomplishments so I have never done it all on one day. vacuum one night. sweep kitchen another, scrub bathroom etc. I always wipe things down with a washclothe though. Does this count?

I don't have set days, just when things need done.  I don't even have a set day for dumping out litter boxes and scouring them.  I live in an apartment and the complex has dumpsters.

No routines at all. Other than going to work.

If it needs to get done, it does. Or not

This is what my whole life feels like sometimes!
I need more hours in my days!
I used to be much better at organizing myself at home. I'm great at work but I've learned that most things can wait if not cat related.

I'm getting to old to stress myself out!

SNORTLE...sort of.  Every three months, before our inspection, the whole house gets a good cleaning.  Between times, my kitchen and bath get daily cleaning, and everything else gets done when it starts to bug me.  It seems I have a very high tolerance for dust.

Well that's a big no. :lol3: The only constant is that I get the trash and recyclables together on Tuesday for Wednesday's pickup.

I go through phases where I try to do one load of laundry a day, so it doesn't pile up, but sometimes it just doesn't happen.

This time of year I get very involved in projects around the house and a lot of the housekeeping, etc just gets done when it gets done. Right now the rug in my living room has a fairly thick layer of cat hair on it. :lol3:

Not really. I usually spend the first two hours of every day feeding the cats, washing up, vacuuming and mopping the floors, dusting, doing all the litter boxes and making the bed. Then the cats want their second breakfast so I have to feed them and wash up all over again.

Other once-a-week cleaning jobs get done whenever I look at them and think ".....and I haven't done that in a while........."

At this time of year I'd rather be gardening than doing housework, so I'm pretending I don't see some of the stuff that needs cleaning.

...with the cats...
no set days for chores here. summer time -- i prefer to spend 1-3 days (morning til night time) in a row just doing chores, followed by 6-9 days of not doing those chores. winter time -- it's 1-2 days in a row for busy days, then 5-6 days of not doing those chores. that's my 'busy days' vs 'quiet days' routine, i guess. on the quiet days i'll cook/bake or prep for those, work on my budget and planning/organizing, make phone calls as needed, do just the daily chores (wash dishes, scoop litter boxes, take out the trash), and recuperate from the busy days.
