Hello all! My husband and I have been feeding two stray kittens (we thought) since November. They are about 9-10 months old. Well we had been on vacation for the past week and a half and we come home to find 3 cute, fuzzy, still learning how to walk, already feisty kittens who apparently belong to one of the cats we have been feeding! The craziest part is this cat is already really tiny that we never noticed a big belly. It only looked bigger after eating so we always said it was just a food baby. Can anyone help me out with how old they may be? I could only get pictures of the one who came out to first hiss at me and then proceed to walk all over my feet. They're absolutely adorable but we can't feed another 3 cats. We've already got a total of 6 indoor pets we feed! What should we do? thanks for any and all advice!

Mama cats usually bring their babies to eat around 5 weeks. She definitely had them before you went on vacation!

Contact all the animal rescue places in your area. Hopefully someone will be able to help you adopt of the kittens and get the mama cat spayed.

Can you feed them until they can be trapped by a rescue? The kitten looks about 5 weeks old. I'm sure very hungry for wet food and kitten chow. Contacting a rescue organization for advice is your best bet. Thank you for caring!

I agree, about 5 weeks. The eyes arent longer baby blue either.   So, try and socialize them as you can. Begin with the one whom shows herself, so will the others follow suit.   Your plan will be to adopt them out, and its easier done if they are socialized.

If you dont have own good ideas, getting help from some rescue organization is the easiest.  Healthy adorable kittens are seldom difficult to get homes.

Plan on spaying of the other cats ASAP!  The same rescue organisation may tip you where to find a good and cheap vet in your area.

Last, it was an interesting example of, its entirery possible a cat is hanging out on your porch,  no visible troubles there - and yet, she does have a litter nearby - and most of them survive...

Its a quite common riddle, if an apparent recent momma taking refuge with us - has she lost the litter, or are they still around somewhere??   The lesson from here is, she can very often still have the litter nearby AND in her care, even if she doesnt seem very stressed by missing them.

Okay so then they are old enough to eat actual food? Their momma is very skinny and always hungry and we try to feed her as much as we can but the kittens still try to nurse from her so we know that's where all her food goes. What can we feed the kittens? At what age will they be ready to adopt? I will be contacting local rescue groups today. I would keep them all if I could but then there would be no room for my husband! Would cans of pate wet food work? How much and how often?

The kittens should stay with mama for 10 weeks at least, but try to hold them a lot so they'll grow up tame. If the mama is really wild it might be better to take them away younger, but that's to be avoided if at all possible.

Yes, canned pate Friskies is fine. You can get the big cans and it will cost less per ounce. They're at the age the mama is starting to wean them onto solid food---that's why she brought them to her food source :D. But they'll still need soft food for a few weeks. Feed as much as they'll eat at least 3 times a day. You can also leave a bowl of kitten chow out and they may take a nibble, but their teeth are still very small so they probably will mostly eat the soft food.

Wet pate would be fine. You can just put it on disposable plates and I'm sure it'll lure them in so maybe you can catch them for a rescue or a no kill shelter, kittens are piglets they're always hungry.

I recently got two kittens about 7-8 months ago. They were eight weeks and one day. This one looks a fair bit younger so I am guessing about 5-6 weeks. If they are still feeding off mum then you should keep them a few more weeks until calling an animal shelter. Otherwise you should call one now. It would be better if you can post on online site to see if anyone wants them so that you know they won't be put down after a month. Hopefully this helps!

These kittens are officially eating on their own and it feels like such a win! Next up is getting them ready to find forever homes. But in the mean time... Every time we feed the kittens, their momma eats at the same time. She's fine eating out of her own bowl and glances over to see her babies eating and goes and starts eating from their bowl. Why? What should we do?

Were you able to trap them and bring them in? How many kittens are there? How often do you feed them?

Just feed them all together on one large paper plate with enough food for all. Moms frequently like to eat with their kittens. [emoji]128522[/emoji]
