When you say it looks like blood on the side of his nose, is it red stain, or like brown crusting?   Does it look like there is any yellow or green like a bacterial infection?

When you talked to your vet did they look at the problem or only talk to you over the phone?

Also, has this cat had any other symptoms like sneezing, or coughing or anything like that?   Either recently or in the past?

Mouse gets a runny eye sometimes - it will run clear but then dries off as a brown crust.  With him it is only one eye that it usually happens with.  He will also cough sometimes, and sneezes a bit and that usually happens a week or so before he gets the runny eye.  My vet has told me he probably has the feline herpes virus and that is what is causing it.

Hi There

Thank you for the reply no he doesn't sneeze or cough  he just gets sore eyes and they water a lot no green or yellow I'm wondering if he is allergic to anything he does fight I,e play fights a lot with the other cat Harley so I'm wondering if he has  scratched him or something in the eye at some point idk they are like small children more than cats lol is there anything I could do to ease it a bit for him my vet won't see me in person as I can't afford to get to the vet and he won't come out to us so  I talked to her over the phone

It could be an alergy, or herpes virus, maybe something else like a blocked tear duct, but if the discharge is clear it doesn't sound like a bacterial infection.   Because it's clear it also sounds less like a scratch or injury as that would more likely get infected.

If you're not able to see the vet in person it seems sensible to follow their advice with the warm water rinsing which might help give some relief from pain and help keep the eye area clear and free from infection.   The other thing worth thinking about is looking at immune system support, and if your cat is healthy other than the watery eyes you might also want to read some of the threads on this site about using L Lysine.  L Lysine is thought to help block the herpes virus and reduce the number / duration of outbreaks so if this is the cause of the eye problems it might help your cat.   It can cause more stress on the liver if it's used long term so I don't give it to Mouse unless he is actively showing signs f the virus - like the runny eyes.   Whether it works any better than a good diet supporting a strong immune system I don't know but as it isn't too expensive and seems to help Mouse I use it in short bursts (with my vet's agreement).

I hope you find something that helps your cat and find a way to stop his eyes bothing him.  It is awful when you think your cat is in pain and don't know how to help them.
