I have been in agony with Chi for the last 3-4 days - she was lethargic, not eating, wasting away, hiding - and basically dying. I was waiting this out and praying. I called a vet to come two times and both times cancelled. Not sleeping, woke up today and said that's it - the vet was supposed to come to give put her down and I said $#$# no way - we're going to fight this - last tooth and nail. I picked her up and gave her Arsinicum homeoapathic remedy. Then I made her a slurry of chicken and carrot - and started giving that to her hand to mouth - then got her some water. She drank a little then used the box then started staring into space again. Cancelled the vet and put Chi in the carrier and off I went to another vet - to see if he could do anything. He ran blood test and did an US - the blood tests came back normal except slightly elecvated WBC and NEU. Ultrasound showed a messed up gall bladder with some kind of mass in the liver but he didn't think (?) it was cancer because if it was cancer she'd already be dead since it was first discovered last November...(?). He said because of the HYPER T she should be getting the methimazole gel - and her hyper-t was the cause of all of this. Then he suggest the Y/D.

He suggested she stay over nite to get IV and stablized. She's there now.

Her CBC did not show elevated liver enzymes.

Her previous CBC done in 6/23/16 showed elevated enzymes.

why is she craving grass

craving shea butter

why did she collapse

why was she on death's door

how did the liver enzymes that were always high now become normal?

I'm so sorry Chi and you have been going through this, but good for you for giving her a chance!  I hope this new vet can find a way to help her.

Thank you - me too. I  now need to figure out the liver issues - do you know of a liver/hep group for cats that's active? I never heard of liver enzymes fluctuating like this and if she's got gall bladder issues - how can this be remedied? Maybe there's an infection in there.

Hi, I had a cat once that got lethargic refusing food, wouldn't eat anything so was getting worse. I got some whitebait we call it in England; small silver fish that you batter (not hit), and fry whole.

I tried giving her this raw uncooked whole tiny fish, she took these and being small they slipped down easily. She started recovering and never looked back.

You might give it a try, you have nothing to lose and it might even work? All the best, Regards, Brian.

Hi - she's got hyper-t - that means no fish.

Oh, Sorry about that I didn't know what Hyper-T was all about but have now read up on it. I'm not very good at this am I?

There has been cats in our family since I was a kid but happily they were healthy apart from the lethargic incident above. Most of the cats I have had have been Feral or abandoned turning up at the door knowing a soft touch when they see it. Maybe if they have lived rough for a while it toughens them up? The one I have now, No-name, was with madam next door but repeatedly crossed the roofs to jump down on my patio even though I didn't feed her (the cat). Eventually she wouldn't go home, got pregnant (then I fed her), so now I have two cats, being small herself she only had one kitten.

As for the liver enzyme problem your puss has, I once contracted hepatitis with jaundice, I realise I am no cat but my liver, I was told, which had shrunk to nothing would re-grow being the only organ in the body that can do this. It came back to normal and i'm not bright yellow anymore.

I'm wondering if animals' liver acts the same way, logically it should if Darwin is to be believed.

Kind regards, Brian.
