Hello all I was hoping to get some advice , my cat is pregnant and she's nearly 2 years old . On Saturday afternoon 9th July she had some watery bloody (not bright red blood ) mucus so I thought she was going into labour but that would make her 60 days pregnant if my dates are correct , but there's no kittens and no signs of labour at all ? She's still losing bits of her mucus plug but that's it no blood or anything she's eating , drinking , weeing , pooing ! She seems happy should I be concerned or get her to a vet ? Thanks in advance for any advice

No signs of distress? Usual pregnancy is roughly 65 days ( cats don't read the rule book so some go into labor at different times). Are the kittens active? When I first started breeding I was told to take the  queens temperature daily at the same time, the last week or so before expected delivery. It drops slightly in most but not all cases just before labor starts. As long as she is acting fine (eating, drinking, using the box and  no signs of distress) and the mucus doesn't smell foul I would say she is okay. I would not however let her go longer than around 68-69 days from first breeding without talking to the vet.

My guess is you shall continue to observe and be vigilant, but you can wait in home.

Of course, if your vet is experienced with cat obstetrics, you can contact if you worry.  It may even be wise.

But  it doenst sounds as alarming at this moment.

Good luck!

Wanting belly rubs is normal. A couple of my girls almost had me rub the fur off of their bellies while pregnant! Every time I sat down, they were on my lap wanting me to rub the belly. I always felt like they had changed their minds about having kittens when it was close to the due date - seemed to take FOREVER so don't feel bad about being anxious.

My cat had 9 kittens 3 days ago. It is her 3rd litter, we had an app. To get her spayed after her second litter but turns out she gotten pregnant and she wasn't even done nursing her second litter. But with her 3rd litter, she lost her mucus plug, she had watery blood and all that, she was in labor 2 days before having her kittens. She showed no signs at all that she was going to have them, with her second and first litter she meowed and meowed right before she had them. But this time was different, her temp was the same, she was eating the same, I was worried that something might be wrong with her because you could tell that she was in labor but she wasn't showing many signs at all but there was alot of movement. But turns out everything was fine, she ended up giving birth to 9 kittens. She's about 2 years old as well.

Please get your cat spayed this time as soon as all 9 kittens are eating solids. The back to back litters are incredibly hard on mom. And keep her inside and away from intact males in the meantime.

It sounds like she is doing okay, unless the spotting increases with no labor. Small amounts of discharge are normal. Keep watching her. I expect she should go into labor fairly soon.

Yeah, I suspect it may be the intestines.  NOW its time to go to the vet with it.  IF its intestines, it will prob be put to sleep.

Operation and surgery is theoretically possible, but is tricky, and they often dont make it.

We had something similiar some time ago.  The kitten wastn with the vet - or the vet said you can wait and see, I dont remember.  The kitten didnt seemed to have much pains, but it died after several days, of course.   They usually do with such big damages...

So, please let a vet decide what its here.

What is happening now?

The kitten appears to have been born with its intestines outside the body. Did you see a vet?

Are the other kittens latched and nursing well?

RIP little one.  It was kind and wise of you to let him go.  RIP also to that little whom was stillborn.

But its part of natures way - this is why cats can get quite a few kittens - Mother Nature knows not all will make it into adulthood, even if momma is caretaking and the owner is doing her best.   We can help many, and or diminish suffering with others, but we cant save them all.

So momma has 4 healthy kittens, whom she is happy with?  " Beaming almost as a proud father."  :)

I gather she got two more since your last message...

So do as the momma, bury your dead, weep perhaps a little, say a prayer for them if you feel for it - and concentrate on them alive.   They will need your care and love.

So for example, taking weight on them, and notice if they gain properly,  is a wise precaution - this way you get an early warning if something is not so good.  OR you got an assurance, it is going well.  And you will have a nice memory to give to the adopters - alike is done with human babies, no?
