good afternoon!

it's a rainy day where i live today. this is great, because it's been very hot and dry here lately -- the grass in brown-ish. it's nice and cool too, currently 68 degrees F. i really enjoy rainy days, though i wouldn't like rain every day!
as i was thinking about what i'll be doing today, i wondered what other people like to do on rainy days.

so, for for today's Question of the Day......

What do you like to do on a rainy day?

i'll start!

i think the thing i like most about rainy days is just listening to the rain. there's something calming, relaxing about it. everything smells 'fresh' outdoors.

rainy days are also nice because i can do some reading, work on a jigsaw puzzle/play some computer games, watch a movie or tv show(s), sometimes even take a little nap! and on cool, rainy days my cats like to snuggle more......
(punky is snuggling against the back of me, while sharing my chair at the computer desk as i write this
)

there are no thunderstorms forecast here today, but i also enjoy watching and listening to those!

and on a rainy day, i must listen to Chove Chuva (Constant Rain), by Sergio Mendez at least once!

how about you?

Reading; napping; watching T.V. or a movie; computer games; snuggling, either with Jasmine or my husband (snuggling is so much more fun when it's not too hot!); and we mustn't forget eating -- I'd much rather cook when it's not too hot.

We can't afford A.C. this summer, so when it rains I open windows and turn on a fan to get some cool air into the house.  Colorado is dry enough that I'm not worried about the moist air being a problem; it's actually a blessing.  And I had never heard of Chove Chuva before; I'll have to check YouTube for it.  Thank you!

Watch T.V. and usually fall asleep on the couch and let the T.V. watch me for awhile.

Pretty much the same as above. TV/movies, maybe a nap, logging into Second Life (virtual world). Maybe read a bit,  Cook new recipes (today, I'm debating about making Strawberry Biscuits, if I get the wherewithall).

I also like watching the rain if it's a good storm.  We have a very large, deep covered porch which is perfect to sit out on and listen to passing storms.

Rainy days are lazy days for me!

I do not like to go outside in the rain. I usually stay in, watch TV~~ a movie or some programs I had recorded. A cup of tea, or a glass of wine, some popcorn, cuddle up on the coach--sometimes Artie joins me; that is a good rainy day.  I could also put some classical music on, light a candle and read.

Or, If I am 'in the mood' I will go through some things for donations or trash; but that has to be done first thing in the morning. I get real lazy as the day progresses.

Mostly reading and watching TV.  Of course, I spend my normal 5-6 hours on the computer,

Stuff on the computer / genealogy maybe. Reading. Playing Gummy Drop on the Kindle.  Playing with the kitties. Clean the house if I'm feeling ambitious.

@mickNsnicks2mom I'm with you on the listening.  I take yoga classes and we do a meditation on witnessing sound.. or sound awareness.  I love it when the class coincides with a good downpour!  It's hard to be aware of anything else.  In fact meditation and rainy weather go together really well in general, I find.

Also with Winchester on baking.  Or sewing.

Honeybee on my lap, music playing in background
SLEEP! I like the comment earlier about watching tv then fall asleep and let the tv watch me. LOL. Honeybee LOVES LOVES rainy days-she still goes out in the rain but comes back in and snuggles for hours. I often come home to find her snuggled up to Jon on his chest. He says I couldn't get up=Honeybee held me hostage all day! And she does. Sometimes Pumps will lay beside us but normally she stays in her spot under the kitchen table.

We usually rent a movie or watch jerry springer or steve Wilcos (sp?) We laugh at the stupidity. We don't get to do this often. Usually 4 times a year for when there's a holiday and work is off=july 4 was our last tv day. before that it was jan 1. Or snow days.

I like to play on facebook and stir up the troublemakers on various sites but lately I find that too tiring. I will mess around on the puter for a few hours then go take a nap. And I agree with the cooking-if its hot then its just toast or something cold. otherwise I use the oven and bake something for supper. Jon likes BLTs and lately that's what we eat. Yes I love rainy days. My skin doesn't burn and my head doesn't feel like popping off like it will by Wednesday. I prefer it 60 to 75.

great choices!
oh yes, i'd much rather cook when it's not too hot too.

i've only put in one ac this summer, instead of two window ac's. it's not quite as comfortable on the very hot days, but it's acceptable and it saves me some money on my electric bill. i also installed window security bars on one downstairs window, so i leave that window open all night (unless it rains) and don't need the ac running all night.

did you end up making the Strawberry Biscuits?

i prefer to get things done in the mornings, or early in the day, too! then i can relax as the later afternoon and evening arrives.

Im of work tomorrow so im going to spend the day with my baby girl Martha. Ive had the weekend of and its been great spending time with martha, getting to know her habits, her routine and just spending time with her. We've played together, we,ve snuggled and just enjoyed each others company. I know when she likes to be left alone and I respect her space , its great when a few hours later she'll wake up and come and mew her hello and then she normally just enjoys looking out tbe window
