My cat has been having upper respiratory issues for about the past 5 months. His nose is real stuffy, and he gets these soft gooey growths on his nose that turn into large scabs that block his nostrils. The vet says they're from him constantly rubbing and licking his nose. These "attacks" come and go; he'll be sick for a couple days, then everything clears up, then comes back a few days later. Recently it's gotten worse. A few days ago he started with the normal runny nose and irritation scab. But now, he's started breathing through his mouth instead, and he makes a snoring-like sound. Since this started in March, he's received antibiotic shots from the vet, which initially helped, but his symptoms come back after a few weeks. We decided to be super agressive and gave him 1 shot a week for 4 weeks, but at $60 a shot, I'm weary about trying them again if they didn't work, since his last one was last week. Any advise? He's still eating and drinking normally, enjoying teats, and playing.

Can the vet do a culture of those soft gooey growths?  I wonder if it's a fungus.  I had a similar problem last year with my kitty Gracie.  But in my case I asked several vets she saw to do a culture but they wouldn't, saying whatever organism they found was secondary to the real problem.

I am sure someone will be here soon to advise you...in fact, I see a new post coming up....

I would culture the growths to find out what's going on.  I'm wondering if it's allergies, either food allergies or airborne allergies or a combination of the two.  Have you tried giving him a daily antihistamine?
