Hey guys i need some advice. After school my cat's eye was swollen. But only his upper eye lid. And his eye was closed so i decided to put human eye drops in his eye. He went to sleep, when he woke up he was able to open his eye. But still only his upper eye lid is swollen. It looks like an abscess. Could it be an abscess? Or is his eye infected. Also there isn't any green or yellow discharge. And i also can't bring him to the vets cause I'm only a student and can't afford it.

You should never use human medication on your cat without consulting a vet, maybe especially on the eyes. I don't think you should repeat that.

You should call vets and find out how much a basic exam is. He likely only needs an antibiotic ointment, but he does urgently need it or he could lose the eye. He is likely in a lot of pain.

If you have tried to post a photo here it did not go through. Your cat needs to see a vet, especially if the eye is concerned. He may lose the eye. He is in a lot of pain.

My cat has an facial abscess right above his eye, making his right eye smaller than the other. I can see that he's in a lot of pain, he doesn't let me touch his eye. It's a small round clump on his upper eye lid. And there isn't any discharge coming out of his eye. Can i just give him antibiotics for that. Or does it need to be treated? Also i can't afford to go to a vet.

Sometimes the only thing to do is take the cat to the vet. Things going on with the eye can quickly turn into something serious. Please see if you can find a vet who will work out a payment plan and help you.

I would not rely on luck, especially when the eye is the one in trouble. You risk your cat going blind or losing the eye if it's not treated by a vet. Petshop does not sell eye ointments, besides, you wound't want to treat something you don't know what it is either.

Keep an eye on the eye (no pun intended). I would still take him to the vet quickly.
