I have just gotten my first kitten ever, and his name is, Jack Lewis Daniels. Turns out, his mom is his aunt, and his dad is his uncle. Jack's mother and father, are brother and sister. I'm not sure how far back his inbreeding family history goes, as far as I know, it just began with his parents.
Should I be worried? Will he not live as long as cats are expected to? What are some health risks I need to watch out for? What should I discuss with the vet next time Jack and I have an appointment?
He is a very loving, playful kitten. He's incredibly affectionate, and I love him so much. I've only had him for four weeks, but he's my pride and joy. I'd just fall into deep sorrow if anything were to happen to him because I didn't take all the precautions needed with Jack being an inbred. Help, fellow cat friends. I should also mention he was the runt.

I wouldn't worry about it.  Many of us with rescues probably have kitties with a lot of inbreeding in them.

He is a cute little kitten.

As Denice said, cats can withstand quite a bit of inbreeding before any kind of problems arise. He will more than likely be completely fine and grow up to be a happy, healthy kitty!

Our shelter gets a lot of inbred cats and kittens from feral colonies. Other than finding it difficult to tell a lot of them apart and a tendency towards many of them having the same food intolerance (chicken), they're usually healthy.
