Hello,

I have some questions about vaccination. So I have to vaccinate 3 x 9 week old kittens. Am I a bit late? Yes I know...I have some questions though.

1. Can 3 kittens take the same vaccine with different syringes? Example if the vaccine bottle has 30 ml of liquid, can each kitten take 10 ml? It should have the same effect I believe, if I know the biology behind vaccination correctly. Also the vaccines are designed for adult cats to take as well so a tiny kitten should have no problem taking maximum effect from less liquid? Or am I wrong?

2. When should they get their boosters?  A month after the first vaccination? A year after? 6 months?

3. Do they have to be vaccinated again after receiving the first booster or is that permanent like human vaccines that we only take as children and never again? Why do kittens need boosters anyway? We humans don't. Are we that much different?

Thank you.

Hi TheCatSage !

Time for Feline Vaccination 101, methinks !

I believe all your questions......plus, some critical do-not's......will be answered and revealed right here:  http://catinfo.org/?link=vaccines

And, her best-of-all advice:
Do not assume that your vet is using non-adjuvanted vaccines.  ASK before allowing any vaccine to be administered to your cat.
And, for one more safety precaution, you could insist that all vaccines be administered in the tail:

Here's an easy read about that:  IF You Must Vaccinate.....Dr. Karen Becker

Hope that helps.
